Canucks' Burrows undergoes surgery

Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows has undergone successful surgery, the club announced on Monday.

General manager Mike Gillis said the 29-year-old left wing underwent surgery for his shoulder.

“At the conclusion of our season and after further consultation with our medical staff it was determined that shoulder surgery was the required procedure for Alex,” said Gillis in a statement. “Alex underwent successful surgery and will begin his rehab program set forth by our medical and training staff.”

Burrows set career highs the past season with 35 goals, 32 assists, and a plus-34 rating. He added three goals and three assists in 12 playoff games.
