what happened with the snake storyline? is that finished for good?

I think so. He's getting quite old in the last series. The last boss fight is like watching 2 grandpa fighting. However he will always remain legendary. Is time for him to pass down his legacy to the young one. Thought i'm not sure who the guy is in Rising. Used sword like Raiden but doesn't look like him. Guess we'll have to wait and find out the story later on.

Edit: k just read through a some post on a forum and it's been confirm. That is Raiden. Still pretty bad ass.

It is Raiden....this story follows that ninja type raiden in MGS4

It used to be an "Xbox exclusive". They recently changed it to both platforms. I hope they don't degrade the quality because they are porting it. Metal gear solid series was all about Fantastic visuals and real time cut scenes. No pre-rendered stuff.

yea if you played MGS4, snake pretty much died at the end from the old age thingy. and raiden pretty much takes over the game. raiden was such a wuss in MGS2 but he became a bad ass in MGS4. and now its even awesome!

i think he's back on the plane with octacon, and in this MGS, snake will probably be raiden's commander like campbell was to snake.

This game looks bad ass but I'm not sure I'm really loving the ideal going from stealth + guns to a guy with a sword going all out. Will the game be dope, probably but it just won't be the Metal Gear I've always remembered playing that's all.

I'm pretty sure Snake is dead, it's been a while since I finished it but didn't he get down on his knees in the cemetary and pull the trigger when the gun was in his mouth cause he didn't wanna become a biological weapon?

Nope, Rising was suppose to be an Xbox only exclusive. Not sure what happened with the talks and possibly "exclusivity contracts".

after being MIA for a good year and no showing at E3, my feeling was right that Hideo Kojima cancelled the original game

i dont know if i can agree with the gameplay mechanic though, like how it takes several strikes for Raiden before he can slice them unlike the original demo game where he just slaying them.. this looks more intune to Platinum's Bayonnetta now..

I agree, for a sword so powerful, it doesn't make sense that he has to slice some jabroni soldiers 5 times before killing them.

True, but if it only takes him a single strike to kill most of the enemies in the game then that would be kind of pointless too? Anyway, I'm not too sure I'm liking what I'm seeing to be honest. Will it probably be fun and cool? Sure, but I'm just not too sure about it. Maybe I'm attaching it too the other Metal Gear games and where I'm used to Snake and all the stealth stuff and have to come to grips that this game while still under the Metal Gear name is not snake and not the same game.

well metal gear solid 2 wasn't snake, it was also jack so it's not like the story hasn't gone that way before.

But I agree with the hack and slash deal. I've been rocking this series since metal gear on nes and really liked the gameplay. But I also can't say this looks or seems terrible until I play it. They haven't let me down before so I'm sure it'll still be awesome.

i think they should have called it something else... Metal Gear series was about being stealthy... not hacking, slashing and cutting up everything you see on screen.. lol..
