I'm gonna go to a few games this year simply because the games will be outdoors. BC place is a horrible venue for sporting events and concerts, the sound dynamics are bad and the place is a too big to create any atmosphere.

I can't wait for the sun, if it ever comes this year, hotdogs and watching jackson throw hailmary's as that's all he does. casey printers i'm cautioning you, you better not be a princess this year. go lions

One of my clients bought me season tickets, I think I'll go check it out for the stadium more than the for the Lions, I just can't interested in the CFL for some reason, more an NFL guy, but the stadium looks pretty sweet so I'll go check out a game and give the rest of the tickets away at work.

For anybody being afraid to go because it might rain please keep in mind that a good portion of seats are covered. If my memory serves me right last night on TSN they said 40% are covered. Even with that said, going to a game with no cover and just toughing it out being exposed to the elements are quite an experience and fun.

i still say it's retarded that it's only going to be temporary -- that is a DAMN nice stadium if they were to make it permanent. they could do so much with it if they marketted it properly. I know this isn't the deep south US, but just throwing out ideas, they could have a highschool football game of the week (or whatever other field sport you wanted) i would rather my tax dollars go to that than spending $100k on fucking 'VANDU' surveys.

I was just watching the news and they were showing a story how parking was $30 for lion games, that's pretty shitty as they jack up the rates, but for those that paid that outrageous price, when some ppl wanted to start a tailgate, grilling burgers and such, they were not allowed.

Tailgating is a big part of football, at least it is for me. I get to meet fellow fans, talk ball, eat some good food, etc, etc. Tailgating is HUGE in the states, all teams down there allow for tailgating, it's sad to hear city of vancouver or PNE won't allow this to happen.

‘Tailgating’ will be allowed on PNE on-site parking lots up to three hours prior to the start of each BC Lions home game. Fans wishing to tailgate must abide by the following safety guidelines:

Tailgating will be allowed on all five PNE operated on-site lots at Hastings Park.
All cars in the tailgate lots must use one spot and must pay for that spot by purchasing a ticket from the parking attendant.
Parking stalls are available on a first come, first serve basis.
All garbage must be bagged and secured in vehicles prior to departure for the game, and must be taken home with you to dispose of.
All barbecues must be propane operated and must be attended at all times. NO CHARCOAL BARBECUES ARE PERMITTED.
A fire extinguisher must be present at the tailgate.

The first few blocks have residential private parking so you could always pay someone to park in front of there house. Once you go further the street parking is free but since it's a saturday and playland is open it will probably be pretty busy around there. Best to get there early or take transit

Yes. Ticket holders get 2 for 1 admission into playland. I think people will take advantage of that.

I went to many as a kid but haven't seen a jet in years. Needless to say I got outside my front yard just in time as the plane flew pretty much directly over my house at about 500 feet. Pretty awesome, too bad it was only 1 and not like 3.

Was a great time and I really enjoyed watching the game outside again the way it is meant to be played. The dude in the wheelchair rolling onto the field near the end of the game was hilarious. There really isn't a bad seat in there either, you're so close to the field. Also if your in the endzones there are no nets, balls are kicked into the stands. Watched the horse races in the afternoon and parking was only $10 so that was actually pretty decent.

The only complaints I'd have which should be expected anyway are the lineups for everything were pretty long and the flow of moving around the Stadium is not very good.

Odds of snow in the lower mainland before mid November? It could happen but probably not. BC Place is a better Stadium as its a permanent structure but it is not a better place to watch a football game and it isn't even close. On a scale of 1 to 10 of how good BC Place is for watching football it's about a 2. Now rain in October and November will make watching games at Empire suck ball sack. I've watched games in the snow at Taylor Field in weather as cold as -25 with windchill and ya it's cold as fuck but it's still enjoyable, probably better then watching in the rain.

The Lions O-Lion is the biggest problem they have and it's the same problem they had last year. The offensive line of teams is often overlooked when the offense is clickin it's not until it's shit that it stands out like a sore thumb. Unless they Lions fix that line you could put anyone back there and they probably aren't going to have a lot of success.

Miami Dolphins left tackle Jake Long gave up four or five, depending on the critic. Not many for a blocker trying to fend off blindside attacks. That's why Long went to his second Pro Bowl in two seasons.

In the past week, Long has surrendered about as many sacks to outside linebacker Cameron Wake as he did through 16 games last year.

"Cam's good, man," said Long, his face covered in sweat and grass after Wednesday morning's training-camp workout.

Wake, the former Canadian Football League phenom, has a grand chance to make an impact for the Dolphins' defense. All-decade outside linebackers, Joey Porter and Jason Taylor, are gone.

"That opportunity's out there," Wake said, "and every day I'm just trying to go out there and learn and improve and let the coaches in the organization [know] you can be one of those guys that can make plays."

The Dolphins imported Wake last year after two obnoxious seasons for the BC Lions. Wake, an undrafted defensive end out of Penn State, amassed 39 sacks -- 16 as a rookie and 23 the second year.

The NFL transition wasn't smooth. Wake possessed obvious athleticism, but wasn't an impact performer right away. He was scratched the first two games. His lone start came in the regular-season finale. He finished with 11 tackles but had 5.5 sacks, showing Miami's front office enough to confidently cut ties with Porter and Taylor.

Long has been impressed by Wake's development from one training camp to the next.

"He's still got the same moves, but he's perfected them," Long said. "He's gotten better and better as the year went on last year. He's better than he was last year. He's just working on his specific moves and getting better at it."

Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano cited Long versus Wake as the type of mutually beneficial battle that makes teams more competitive against real opponents.

"Playing against Jake Long every day, and Jake getting to block a guy like Cameron, this makes us a little bit better each and every day out here," Sparano said. "When you get to the game and you're playing against whoever that left tackle is, you're going to feel like you've played against a pretty darn good one in practice."

Two professional football teams can't get much farther apart than Vancouver and South Florida, and no one in their right mind can expect a 23-sack season, but it appears Wake is starting to feel at home in the NFL.

"This year is a little different," Wake said. "I'm more comfortable. I've been here for a year and half now. I know the city. I know the routine. I know the coaching staff. It's just one of those things where you get in a comfort zone and go out and play defense."

On Monday night, the B.C. Lions announced they had re-signed free-agent defensive end Ricky Foley, who was quoted in a team release saying he “couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else.”

Turns out that wasn't quite true. Less than 24 hours later, Foley is officially a member of his hometown Toronto Argonauts.

The 28-year-old York University product apparently didn't sleep well with his decision Monday. And on Tuesday, he had a change of heart, sending him from the fold of one David Braley-owned CFL team to another.

Early Tuesday, Lions head coach Wally Buono and his B.C. players were welcoming Foley back through the media, believing his plane was about to land in Vancouver so he could sign his contract. But when it arrived, the 2009 CFL most outstanding Canadian wasn't on it.

“I told Ricky, I don't want you to get on a plane to B.C. and regret it because then we have an unhappy player, a disgruntled player who we've made a substantial investment in,” Buono later told Team Radio in Vancouver. “He's had a change of heart. Whether you like it or not, you have to respect it.”

Since no contract had been signed, Foley was free to do an about-face.

“This was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever made,” Foley said in a release sent out by his agent, Paul Sheehy, on Tuesday.

“The fans, players and coaches in B.C. have been nothing but great and supportive of me for my career there,” Foley said, “but if I returned there, it would have been for selfish reasons. I have a unique opportunity to play in front of my family and friends and play for my hometown Argos, and, at the end of the day, my family comes first. So I'm very excited to help bring Toronto a Grey Cup.”

Foley tied for the CFL lead in sacks last season, with 12, earning him a free-agent contract with the NFL's Seattle Seahawks. Cut by Seattle in August, Foley was signed by the New York Jets, who released him a short time later.

Just been busy doing stuff around the house all day, I lost track of the time, and I'm just too damn tired to make the trek down there (either drive in and pay $25 for parking, or get a ride to SkyTrain and spend an hour on transit... granted, they are running the special shuttles from SkyTain to Empire for the games, so it's not TOO bad).

One of the few times I'm pissed I had to cut my cable lineup to the minimum for budgetary reasons - no TSN HD :(

I was at the game and it was great till the end. You could tell something bad was bound to happen, Printers forces the ball and was lucky not to be picked or sacked many times early in the game.

Security is no fun. I saw 2 dudes kicked out for just being loud and obnoxious. They weren't being rude, or swearing. maybe they were a little too drunk - yet I have never seen security so aggressive at another CFL stadium.
