to go 3d or not...
Im in the market for a new TV. i'm looking for something over 46 inches, and i really really want a 3d tv. I love how it looks just playing normal movies with the 3d feature turned on.
what would u guys do? I was thinking a samsung LCD 3dtv.

3D is still new and really expensive. A few years from now, newer generation sets will be here, and if it follows LCD/Plasma trends, it will be a third of the cost. If you really want it, then get one. We aren't gonna stop you.

The rest of us can't really answer that. I've read stuff about how the Samsung 3D feature is a bit "lacking" but since I've never seen it in person, what do I know.
At the end of the day, if you think it looks good to YOU, and you think it's worth the extra coin.. go for it, why bother asking us? :)

i'd rather buy a high end non-3D 240hz set than spend the extra 1200-1800 on a 3D set

Buy a good high end non 3D set now. In 2 years when 3D comes drastically down, buy a 3D TV. You will have ended up spending the same in the long run, and have a better 3D TV because there will be 2 more years of R&D put into it.

Panasonic VT-25 best damned tv on the market (according to avsforums and reviews its basically on par with the Kuro's) its 3D too (the floating blacks issue is unknown with this gen tv since its so new)
or you could get the VT20 if u didnt want the 3d

did u try watching the 3d demo at bestbuy?
cause not everyone is fit to watch 3d, it causes headaches to some people.
too much work to keep up with the newest shit. Next year they'll have 3D without those stupid goggles. Wait until they come up with something the whole family can watch at the same time.

Doubt that, those glasses make for a great after sales item.

2 questions... is it something you want, and are you willing to pay for it? If your answer to both of those is yes, then go for it.

Do you really want a TV where you have to put on special glasses just to make the most of it?
If you have the room for it (size + lighting), just get a 1080P projector and call it a day.

are they really broadcasting news, sports, and movies in 3D already? I think this is one of the worst marketing scam ever

ESPN has a 3D channel in the states on Direct TV and I believe some world cup games are being broadcast in 3D. They will have around 30 events in 3D this year.

the opening world cup game was in 3D
and i think some golf tournament was shown in 3d a lil while ago
every brands 3d glasses have their own lil irks most aficionados are waiting for this aftermarket glasses... i cant rememeber the brand name
but panasonics glasses are made to incorporate people who already wear glasses
either way 3D is just bleeeegh but PS3's 3D Gaming sort of has me swayed

unless the prices of the 3d tv drop significantly.. it'll only cater to the high end ppl that can afford it.. it's like wat? $3000 for a tv.. and another $1000 for a family of 4 glasses??

Well some tvs come with 2 3D glasses but yeah its like another $400 for 2 more glasses
+ you need a 3D capable blu-ray player (only the PS3 is upgradeable to 3D with an update)
+ you'll need a 3D Audio Receiver to complete the package
so yea lots o $$$$
