Here's hoping that it won't be a failboat like last years was. Last year gave a good indication of how poor the job market was. Should be interesting to see how well or poorly it looks this time around.

Yeah, there weren't that many employers that showed up. I went last year and didn't really find anything good.
I'll be going this year to see if I can find something of interest.

i've never been to a job fair, what's it like?
do they detail the positions they have open? do they tell you the wage?
interviews on the spot? hiring on the spot?
or is this more of an information session, talk to reps, get an idea of the position, etc, etc?

^its more like hand in your resume, and if they like you, they give you a time/date for an interview
were there any good employers last year?

As far as I can remember, NAPA and Kal-Tire showed up, as did BC Ferries. The ones I can't remember were either for schools or employers with weak booths. Had I been a bit older at the time, the booths I don't remember would have been good to visit.

were there any city or government jobs?

Not that I can recall. But the City of Surrey's been putting up jobs as program instructors for rec centres, and I'll bet that a lot of high school kids and recent grads will be coming out to this in hopes of getting in.

To fill space, they had some vendors there. Can't remember what they were selling though. Only a few good employers, Costco and a few others had booths. I recall Costco having no positions open, but making a showing to have a pool going for seasonal work.

nothing, it was more of a information session than a job fair.. there was really only 3 places that were accepting resume.. one of them is safeway lol.

well they didn't really specify which safeway is hiring.. there's a form you check off which location you would like to work for.. they basically listed every single one.. pretty sure i'll never go back to this particular job fair again.. it was a waste of time.. there was one really angry lady bitching at one of the volunteer about how she travelled all the way from chilliwack just to find out there's no one here really accepting any resume lol.. the line up was long to get in.. just a waste of time imo
