Honda S2000 successor to be a mid-engine hybrid
http://imgs.worldcarfans.com/2010/6/25/medium/15511628092092829666.jpg
Patent filings in Japan by Honda suggest that the automaker is working on a new roadster to take over where the Honda S2000 left off
Oh boy 8,000-9,000 RPM F20/K20 + Electric motor for low rpm torque... this is gonna be sweet.

front mounted mid engine? as long as the engine is between the two axles, it is "in the middle of the car" so its mid-engined, just like the original s2k

Rendering from Autocar UK is a bit more mid-engine friendly

i wouldn't mind if it was a 2.0L f20c in that thing coupled with an IMA (integrated motor assist) for instantaneous torque, then have the engine kick in at like 3.5k all the way till 9k for some mad vtak. Car must be <2900lbs, and be able to run low offset wheels without over fenders/ replacements.

maybe by then you can buy AP2's for like 13k haha

If this is true, the Honda obviously gotta get their head checked.
NSX Successor -> HSV = FR?
S2000 Successor -> = MR ?
I think it would make more sense if the HSV was a hardcore on steriod successor to the S2000 and leave the MR platform for NSX
I don't know if its just me, a Mid Engine sports car that is from Honda and not called a NSX is awkward.

mid engine doesn't mean behind the driver only... as long as its sitting either on top or between the axles then its Mid engine.

don't forget guys. Electric motors have instant torque, no need for power conversions through gear ratios and stuff like that. If Honda gets it right, you might have the insane power acceleration of an electric, with the "oomph" of an internal combustion further down the line.

Porsche has already made a hybrid version.. they entered it in the GT2 or GT3 race, it led for most of the laps but it died the last 5 laps or something like that.
