I'm surprised such robbers are pulled off in Richmond when it seems like the RCMP always lurking around this part of Richmond.

METRO VANCOUVER — A valuable painting from the Ming Dynasty was stolen from the Yaohan Center Mall in Richmond on Saturday during an armed robbery.

Two men wearing yellow security jackets entered the Chinese Painting Canada Ltd. at around 12:30 p.m. and produced a handgun, RCMP Cpl. Sherrdean Turley said in a news release.

The two male Caucasians fled before police arrived on the scene. Both suspects were around 5'9" and were wearing sunglasses, baseball hats and yellow security jackets.

No one was injured during the incident.

Turley said it is not known if the stolen Lan Ying painting is an original but it is valued at approximately $150,000 and has been passed down through many generations.

The men also took calligraphy art by Shi Kai Yuan, the first elected President of China, and two jade Buddha statues, all together valued at $50,000.

If you have any information regarding this incident, contact Cpl. Row of Richmond RCMP Serious Crimes at (604) 207-4713 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

werd. this sounds so fishy. two white guys stealing chinese antiques that most chinese wouldn't even know the value of. Seems like an insurance fraud, or someone wanted them and pay the thieves to steal it. first one seems more realistic....

WTF... I was there about 1:30! The parking lot was surprisingly empty, and I was wondering what was wrong, as it's usually difficult to find a spot right away.

if I'm not mistaken... the owner used to be my neighbor before he moved. Hopefully he's OK

I hope karma gets the thieves

White people would not normally steal this stuff. There must be a reason...

the white guys had to be hired to steal it
either way, they can only sell it in the black market not to be caught

And this people, is why one of the reasons why your insurance rates continue to increase.

most likely the chinese painting is fake. How often do you see $150K painting (or product) in a mall without a security guard sitting in front of the store or extra security gate to their store.
I smell that this is an insurance claim scam.

i'd bet anything it's an inside job. I'm thinking the store was suffering so they got a few guys to dress up and steal a fake painting and some jade statues. Police are called, claim is made and the painting is declared as "authentic".

Luckily if this is a scam, the insurance company is going to audit the shit out of that place. When you think about it, why would you ever find a $150K painting in that mall? IMO

I was looking at a $10K watch few days ago at Montecristo @ Oakridge, they have a secured door lock which can only operate by their employee and a security guard standing in front of the store while you are in there.

If you have $150K painting, they should have done a lot more on security beside leaving their doors WIDE OPEN! If you head down to Yohan's money exchange shop on ground floor, they even have a metal gate inside their store.

This is clearly a insurance scam or thieves that don't know shxt.
