What got you hooked on cars?
I was going through some old car magazines today getting rid of the ones I don't want anymore and I came across the my first mag that got me hooked. It was the dupont luxury car magazine with all the fancy lamborghini's and what not. If you asked me then, I wouldn't have had the slightest clue as to how big of an automotive enthusiast I would have become. It's amazing that small things have such big impacts on people.
So what got you hooked on the automotive scene? There's a reason why so many of us surf on car websites like revscene, let's hear them.

I got shit loads of PAS magazines back then when I was in junior high, I bought them because of the import models 80% of the time. Then in high school I took mechanic and it became an obsession. Oh and I used to be a big NFS fan also.

As a child, my parents got me a couple of power wheels. I remember how awesome those were, back in the day. I would have to say they made me have a passion for cars.

at 3-5 years old i used to sit on my mom's lap and hold the steering wheel while she drove at the then new e34 525i. no airbag and seat belts weren't mandatory yet. scary thinking about it.
my uncle would go street racing with me in the back seat in his ae86 levin. i remember throwing up and ruining his interior.
drift bible, best motor, and my uncle's levin inspired me to get an ae86 as my first car

Playing NFS II and NFS III: Hot Pursuit... fukin loved the Mclaren, Diablo SV and the Isdera. Then when I saw the 350z when it first came out I became completely obsessed with cars.
Probably my first Hotwheel. No idea what it was or when I got it but I'd say that was probably it. The video games, rc cars and movies just fueled the fire.

every sunday night for dinner my family and my cousins would go to my grandmas house for dinner. the route my dad took to drive us there, we'd always pass by this one specific house, it seemed that every time we passed it by, he would have a different car. the paint, the vinyl, body kit, rims, wing, lowered...always found it attractive...but i was maybe 8-12 until i noticed that his car was no longer there.
when i bought my first car, my friend had told me about this site, so i checked it out, got introduced to the vancouver accords website, found the buy and sell forums, and from there it took off.

Used to have one of those awesome town mats with the roads on it for toy cars. Good times playing cars with my brother.
Getting into doing work on cars, I used to take apart my model cars and put them back together. That was fun back then, until I got a car of my own to wrench on.

I used to have all the stuff people have mentioned, but was not very interested. One day they had a PPV - Imports vs Muscle and it was pretty much broadcasted 1/4mile races. I remember Adam Saruwatari's FD going up against tough muscle cars and winning.

I'm with skyxx on this one, girls play with their dolls and us men have our cars. But it wasn't until I worked at a dealership as a lot boy that I really really really loved driving standard.

Everyone had one. The big mat with buildings and streets you could play with your cars on. Can't remember what it was called but that definately started it for me!

I think I was like.. 6 or 7.
My best Friend's older Step brother had a CRX slammed on Mugens that he had since new. Saw it everyday since he lived across the alley. And every once in a while I would see a Black DC2 with Mugen parts on it. I think it was his Step Brother's friend's car. I never asked, but it was always around the block. I was about 8 around this time, and asked my mom what the words meant in Chinese. She told me it meant Infinite, so pretty much after that day I started to Graffiti Mugen everywhere.
My cousin also had a 2G Talon TSi AWD around this time too. Hands down the fastest car I experienced at a young age. Just hearing the exhaust and the Turbo spool made me happy for days. Then he bought a E36 328, and he was officially less cool.
Then my Dad started to buy me those cheap $10 Zellers car models that you build yourself. Of course, not knowing that they were supposed to stay stationary, I destroyed most of them in a matter of days just pushing it and watching them drift and crash into shit. My parents weren't happy when they came home to find the floor littered with cooking oil, that I used as Oil slicks. lol Then came Initial D at 10/11, which put my Chinese to the test.
I never really got into the Import scene until I was like 13/14 when I went to my first Car show, Import Fest. Joined RS shortly after. I was such a ricer when I was a kid, but nobody really taught me anything, so it was mostly self taught. Didn't smarten up until I was like 15/16.

when my mom bought a e46.
-Initial D! Both the Manga and the arcade got me hooked. When the movie 1st came out, our group of friends went nuts about it.
-Need For Speed Underground... I still remember the theme song: "Get Low" :lol
-Need for Speed Underground II. I bought the real copy for $50! It was such a major improvement over NFSU since you can roam around the city!
-Movies like The Fast and the Furious and Gone in 60 seconds.
-MAXIMUM TUNE II!!!! Holy shit I spent a couple hundred bucks on that game and got my car to like 25 000 KMs!

My dad started it when I was younger, getting me to help him work on his trucks and stuff. Lost the passion for it when I moved in with my mom and brother since Mom didn't drive. Then my brother got into rotaries and dragged me in with him :) been in love with them ever since....
basically... this is all Raid3n's fault.

Progression went something like this-
Hotwheels
tinkering (taking apart) motorized toys
helping dad do tune ups
watching older brothers get licences/cars and freedom
having friends with cool muscle cars and Harleys
taking a lot of mechanical, welding courses starting in highschool
getting my own car and customizing it
making money working on other people's cars
getting influenced by different scenes (muscle cars, streetbikes, Harleys, 4x4's)
etc., etc....
