So I'm planning on repairing my rims and powder coating them. After reading a few tutorials on repairing wheel scuffs, I've found many people have used a spot putty or something similar. My question is: will it be able to withstand being powder coated and heated? Is there something I can use instead of the putty if so?

they have stuff out there that is metal filler, you should look into it, it's probably a way better solution for you than that writeup (which some of it was wrong, but not enough to write notes on), and probably isn't expensive neither from lordco or something, and then that stuff will be 100% able to be powdercoated.

I don't remember fully the powdercoating process but dont they dip it in liquid or some shit really hot then spray it with powder coat, or put a current through the wheel to make sure the paint gets evenly everywhere? if so, then the putty will fuck the process up, since it isn't meant for that, it's meant to be primed and painted over, not cooked in liquid and charged.

Yeah im not too sure if the powder coating will stick to the putty. I believe the rims are heated up after they are coated so that may mess up the putty too.

Any more info on the metal filler?

If you sandblast them first, bondo will probably come off....
