what happens when you fall or get into accident. wearing plain t-shirt + shorts will make you never want to ride again

Haha, drove past kits beach today saw so many helmet + sleeveless + shorts + sandal riders :O

I was almost tempted to take off my jacket and put it in my bag and ride home sweat free but my judgement got the better of me

Whenever I see a squid, I hope to fall and then they will learn. But there lots of douche bags that need to show off without gear.

I am very tempted to buy a chest/back protector and ride with it over a t-shirt and gloves. Won't protect everything, yet sure better than nothing. It is sooooooooo hot!

That's a terrible attitude. I don't hope anyone falls, I've seen what road rash looks like and it sucks.

I don't think they are showing off, just lazy, risky, too hot, or not caring as much for their personal safety.

I did see one thing that made me sick, and I thought was awesome at the same time. Hot asian chick on the back of a bike wearing only a bikini and helmet. So hot... yet so wrong. No pics :(

In this temperature, no one wants to wear a full suit on but I'll wear the jacket / helmet / and gloves. Should be adequate on normal streets.

I took a gamble and rode 10 minutes in just t-shirt and shorts to get my bike fixed this morning. Felt so good, but then I'm definitely gonna wear a jacket gloves helmet and boots on my longer ride later today.
But I can see why ppl would go with t-shirt and shorts, just sooooo much more comfortable

I got one of these http://www.alpinestars.com/Bionic_2_Protection_Jacket/pd/c/170/np/170/p/650658.html and even riding in it is very, very hot. I was tempted to ride in shorts and my leather boots but was laughed at before getting out of the house so am still wearing armored textile pants. Gloves are the worst when you have to taken them off to fill up and too sweaty to put back.

That's exactly what I was looking at. One of the guys who makes the Mon Squamish rides wears something similar over a hoodie.

What gloves are you wearing? My teknic violators are pretty sweet in this weather, and they are a full gauntlet too.

I have 3 pairs that was promised to me to be waterproof. "Shift?" not, "FrankThomas" not anymore, "RubberSideDown" haven't tried in the rain yet. I should look into the 'teknic violators' ....I'm going to change the name on those gloves if I decide to get them though. :laughing

The violators are certainly not waterproof, yet vent really well for this weather.

I have yet to see anyone wear decent gear while driving a scooter or moped. I often see women riding them with dresses and heels.

what if you are wearing just normal jeans. won't your ass and legs get fried too by pavement?

Jeans will last a few feet at 100kmph+

There are kevlar jeans that will hold up much better.

Bell Star helmet
RS Taichi Leather Hybrid jacket
Held Phantom gloves
Icon boots
All on my little dinky 50cc.

The only thing that I don't wear are my kevlar jeans when I'm commuting to/from work. Which is horrible, cause i'm in dress pants too :(

On that note, I don't think the jeans really give the side of my knees any padding.
I'd love to find myself a pair of jeans with side-knee padding, any thoughts?

You do know that 99% of scooter riders have little to no rider training, right? :lol

In their own minds, they are invincible because their 49cc CVT scooter is helping the environment!

Normal jeans dont really work. No impact protection nor will it last very long if you end up sliding on your ass. During my accidents, I had full gear except jeans, and i was pretty much ok except for a shattered knee and road rash on my legs. ALWAYS WEAR FULL GEAR

you guys will love this - at high speeds and rolling around as a result of your crash, the heat generated will cause the jean fabric to fuse to your leg.

The kick in the teeth arrives when you get to the hospital; they can't give you anesthetic either as you have to be wide awake when the ER takes a scrubber to your leg to get the jean molecules out.

I know from experience.

I've lowsided only once so far (hopefully my only time!) at low speed ~30km/h wearing full gear. I didn't feel a thing and came out barely with a bruise. In fact, after I lowsided I was like "wtf, why am I on the ground and how come my bike is over there?!"
