Parking ticket - 2 hr limit

I just got a parking ticket today in a residential area where the parking limit was 2 hrs between 8am-6pm or something like that. 2 or 3 cars around me got the same ticket as well.
I know you can dispute it, but what are my chances of winning? I am not sure if I exceeded 2 hrs, and if I did, it wasn't by more than a few minutes. How do these guys even determine that I've parked there for more than 2 hours?
Thanks

don't they mark your tire with chalk to see if your car has moved within 2 hours? i think that's how it's done, not too sure

^i dont think they do that on residential areas.. it'd be a pain in the ass to do the whole city then..

I thought people pretty much have to report it in a residential area.

^ yea, I'm sure someone reported. Figure out if u'r over the limit tho. If u r, just man up & pay.

If I dispute is there a way that they can even prove I was there for more than 2 hours? Did the parking officer drive by the same street over a span of a few hrs and found my car there or something?
Anyone have any ideas how they do this?
I would pay up if I was in an illegal zone or didn't pay for a meter, but I don't know how they were able to objectively determine that I was there for > 2 hrs.

They do it by a couple ways.
Mark tire with chalk.
Note in the computer what time they saw your car. If they come back more than 2 hrs later and you're still there, you'll be ticketed.
It's unlikely you were there for more than a few minutes over two hours, because it's unlikely the guy came back only a few minutes more than two hours. If you think about when you parked, to when he first came by, to when he came by again, to when you got back to the car, it's well over two hours.
They patrol all areas with a sign marked 2 hours. It's not complaints only. Some areas though are patrolled more frequently than others.

^ chalk your tread. they walk 2 hours later if they see the chalk means u've been there 2 hours and u get a ticket :) . sometimes u can just wipe it off... or if u move ur car enough u wont see the chalk ;)... they chalk in highly populated areas where there is free parking infront of store fronts

They don't really use chalk anymore. I know in north van they drive around with this gps thingy that by my understanding keeps track of cars for the patroller.

Someone already told you how they do this. Learn to read, not rant.
If you got a 2hr ticket it is deserved, there is nothing to dispute. They don't just randomly ticket for 2hrs, they monitor either with chalk or computer entries, and if your vehicle is still there, you get a deserved ticket.
For the future, park where there are no signs. I live on a street where there is a 3hr limit sign on one sign, and no sign on the other. Technically the side without the sign is still 3 hrs (city wide bylaw), yet they never ticket that side.

If you dispute the ticket, the fine goes up to $70. The $35 is the discounted price.
I would call the customer service number on the back of the ticket to get the particulars of the ticket.
Remember, the officers take notes for their tickets
