Based on the first 2 seasons, it's actually a pretty weak show.

I'm surprised with the premise of Biker Gangs and with a cast of: Ron Pearlman, Charlie Hunnam, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates et al, not a lot of bad ass shit happens at all. It's even more hurting because out of the entire cast and story, the biggest bad ass of the show is actually nothing but a "suit" [Zobel].

Zobel isn't the biggest bad ass of the show. Tara is. :)

The story of SOA is tremendously entertaining. With the end of The Wire and The Shield, I'm left with SOA, which works just fine for me.

I agree, entertainment wise this show is right on. When I was a kid I spent a lot of time inside a clubhouse of a Motorcycle club and the way it's portrayed in the show really is not that different then I remember them being in the mid 80's. As a kid I never witnessed any of the criminal activities. All the gang war stuff, skinhead shit and what not is way over the top but that is what creates the entertainment value in this show if they didn't do that it would be quite boring.

Take it for what it is, it's a good show entertainment wise but as it's gone on I think it's strayed a bit from what it made it so enjoyable in season 1 to a bit more crazy and wild in season 2. It's done sort of what prison break did but I still enjoy watching it.

I thought it balances personal life and gangster life evenly. I also liked how it's somewhat kinda unpredictable.

That's exactly it. I was kinda disappointed that episode after episode Zobel kept getting the best of them over and over again. I understand what attracts people to the show, but eventually the novelty of leather, bikes, tough looks wears off when not much is happening. So far, unless things turn out differently, SOA seems to be a toothless Biker Gang.

You know it's bad when Entourage's Ari Gold has more intensity in that 1 character than the entirety of that show. I wish SOA could be a little bit more adventurous in their writing and explore boundaries of recklessness. At least that's what I was expecting out of it. At least, that's what I thought the premise of the show was supposed to be; not a male version of a soap opera.

I don't agree.

Examples: Gemma getting gang-raped, Abel getting kidnapped, Jax losing it and killing that fed, Clay putting a hit on Opie, Opie's wife getting killed, Opie losing his mind over the death of his wife, club member's loyalities divided, etc.

I don't know about you. I found all the above to be well written, portayed, and executed. This isn't some BS CSI crap. Your Ari Gold joke, although funny in your mind, is downright disrespectful to the writers and actors of SOA.

You're welcome to your opinion of course. I think you're more than a bit off though.

edit: their leather, bikes, and tough looks didn't help them stop any of what I mentioned above from happening. In fact, it didn't do much to reconcile the events either.

I'm a Shield fan and I really missed Lem when he was gone. It was totally big for me to see the guy in S2 of SOA, and now it seems he's going to be more of a prominent character in S3.

Stahl is pretty good looking. Must be the pant suits and gun she carries.

I guess Hale is done for. I was looking forward to seeing how he would run Charming as the Chief of Police.

Wow, loving this season.

When Jax finds out whats been going on he's going to explode. Clay has done so much shit, kills Jax dad, tries to kill Ope but gets his first wife instead, kills Opes dad, tried killing Tara, beat Jenna...... You forgive him for most of the early stuff during season two and three but then this season they turn him into the super villain.

Despite how they've made Clay into this horrible person, I don't see him being killed off by the writers. However, I also don't see how the club is going allow him to live when they find out all the stuff he's done.

The writers set up Potter like they set up Stahl. They both love the smell of their own farts so much and are way over confident. But just like Stahl, I'm sure a SAMCRO member is going to bring Potter back down to Earth soon enough. I cannot wait.

The CIA thing....ehh I don't want to say the show jumped the shark, but it just really doesn't fit with the series as it stands.

Why do Aceveda and Trejo have badges? They're not cops, or agents even. They're informants with a little too much control on matters.

I'm reminded of how disappointed I was that Tara's life is so messed up because she decied to stick with Jax and the club. Seriously, she could be normal. Instead, she has a crazy mother-in-law, a husband who's around maybe a 1/4 of the time, and 2 boys she tries to raise responsibly by herself. The constant threat of violence, grief, or tragedy always around the corner.

In case no one noticed, at the end when Unser gets attacked, the attackers are the Nomads who got voted in. Well, the one with the prosthetic leg at the very least.

Yea, she was the escort.
When the brothel got raided, I figured it was Clay's doing, out of jealousy and hate against Nero. However, someone on another forum thinks it could've been Tisdale's character who did it because she apparently quit the brothel and went to another one after getting beat up by Gemma. I suppose it's possible.

Clay and the Nomads, I'm pretty sure they're up to no good. Clay being the mastermind behind the gang, I have little doubt.

People are pissed about Opie. Go read IMDB on SOA, lots of people are talking about how hard it was to watch the scene with Opie dying. Someone said it reminded him of when Lem died on The Shield. It was like reality and TV show came together and you feel like you lost a real friend.

I remember I was upset for a few days after watching what happened to Lem. Speaks to how great The Shield is.

I did not see that shit coming. I couldn't breathe in the moments leading up to Opie's death. Sad thing is, I saw it coming that he would be the one to go...Tig is gonna get killed for sure in the next few episodes.
I met Kim Coates a few years ago working on an MOW shot in Maple Ridge. Cool guy, really glad to see a great actor finally land a great role; inspiring to me.

Clay wasn't the one that told the Niners to hit Jax, i reckon it was the sheriff after knowing it was one of the sons that killed his wife.
The one getting assassinated at the end is probably going to be Juice since he is the informant and the sheriff said he will give him the informant sitting at the table.

Was anyone else wondering why they weren't trying harder to find Chibs? It's like they decided his kidnapping wasn't a top priority and sort of shrugged it off. I realize there wasn't much they could do to find him, but atleast be more concerned.

When Jax shot the black guy on the rooftop and let him fall, both Happy and Chibs looked at Jax with some concern in their eyes. I suppose his somewhat new found indifference to killing is a little surprising to others.

BTW, Chibs is a standup guy. Loyal, trustworthy, reliable - just a great guy to have by your side. I was worried that he was going to die. Glad he didn't.

I wonder how soon and in what way Clay is going to leverage Juice's confession to his advantage. Juice is making all the wrong decisions these last 2 seasons.

It's disappointing to see Jax become so conniving and manipulative to get what he wants. I'm sure the writers have purposely written the show this way, possibly having us believe Clay went through the same changes leading to his own current predicament.

Still though, we were all tired of seeing Clay run wild doing whatever he pleased and harming the club in every way possible during his tenure as president. It's like the writers are rehashing it with Jax, and now we're stuck seeing this good guy go bad.

Sucks how he's alienating the people who should be his closest allies.

The Tacoma chapter got down to Charming awfully quick to help protect SAMCRO. It's like they teleported, it was so quick.

I'm assuming that's Tacoma, WA. Charming being somewhere in California, that's like a 15 hour drive.

Kind of disgusted at what Jax did at the end. That was low, real low.

This reminds of how in The Shield as it progressed further, it was getting harder to side with Vic and his actions.

Tig. And even Juice, but they may save the outcome of Juice's fate for the next season, if anything is to happen to him. I feel like they keep foreshadowing his "dismissal" from the show for quite some time now. But he is a fan favorite though (as are most, if not, all of the characters in the show).

I mean I loved the twist where Jax used Tig as bait and let him kill Pope, that shit was awesome. But with other loose ends tied up (Clay going to jail and possibly killed on the way, chief off their backs, got out of the gun biz etc), the big shocker of Tara being arrested didn't seem so special. So Jax and Tara are stuck in Charming again...big surprise.
Clay didn't get killed, Jax didn't get killed, Tig didn't get killed. The "twist" at the end wasn't all that twisty. Compared to the big finales of seasons past, this one was kinda meh.

My thoughts on last nights episode.

Did anyone else cringe when the kid went into the school with the gun? I seriously found myself looking away from the TV when the screaming was going on and the blood hit the window. There is something about innocent kids dieing that seems so wrong.

I'm guessing the gun came from the SOA so going forward it's going to lead to more trouble for the MC as far as heat from the popo and a personal struggle for Jax or other members feeling responsible.

The kid actually bothered me the whole episode cause I didn't know if I missed something in the beginning or if he was from last season and when Jax saw him, he kind of grinned at him, I was screaming at the tv like" WHO ARE YOU?!?!" but yeah the last scene was kind of eerie to watch.

I have to admit- this season has been better than the last one by a wide margin. That said, it's still a declining show imo.

Personally I think this would be a great point to start winding down the series. Either off Tara and the MC lives happily ever after, or Tara does her thing and, well, not so good for the MC.

how was that shock value?? that was Juice getting Gema away safely so she didn't get arrested....

the only thing is now if Jax and the club will find out the truth of what he did before he's killed by the club as already lead on by that kiss of death from Jax

they made it sorta seem like the DA was looking at Roosevelt and Jax's gun but he'll clearly get off that charge will an easy alibi etc

You're right in that "it had to be done" based on the plot ideas and themes that Sutter has gone with in SOA. However, it would've been nice if they produced another source of conflict instead of someone getting offed, and the subsequent revenge. How about Gemma on the run from both police and her own son. Or Jax trying to come to terms with his own mother killing his wife. Yeah sure he'll find out eventually, but the same "lie until you're lie gets discovered" theme is getting pretty old. But, here we are at what appears to be the final season next year. I'll watch it to see how it ends, but to me at least it looks like Sutter is running out of ideas.

The show has a knack for introducing characters that either do nothing, or get thrown away left and right. An example from this season was Collette and Robocop. Yes they did stuff in the season, but imo they didn't contribute to the "endgame" of the season. They were just filler. At least the sheriff had a pretty extensive history with the club. And they just appeared to throw that away on a whim.

And Jax won't need an alibi. The bullets pulled from the sherrif won't match Jax's gun, which also wasn't fired.

To your first point- you'll have to refresh my memory.

Edit- Refreshed my own memory and you're right. End of season 2 she was framed for Edmond's murder by the ATF agent. I still think it would provide enough tension and excitement (for a few episodes at least) to see if her son can get to her before the cops, then spend the rest of the season having Jax write in his book and ponder what sort of mayhem he should impart on his lovely mother.

Second point. Each gun will give off a unique "firing signature" on the bullets that leave their barrels. That's why law enforcement can discern which weapon a bullet comes from, as long as they have the original weapon in the crime to compare with. Even if the 2 guns are both the same make and model. She then took off to Ireland to join Jax in his seach for Able.

Wasn't for very long as a deal was cut and the ATF agent lied.

Your forgetting Juice had personal beef with the cop. That cop is the reason juice tried to hang himself in the first place. Had to steal that brick for evidence, killed a brother when discovered and caused his whole character meltdown. Him shooting the cop might have been his one last fuck you to the Po Po for fucking him over before he meets Mayhem.

She's the mother of that girl that Jax helped save their home. She "died" in a car accident. Jax saw her picture on the mantle in the home when talking to that girls father. Later he walks out of the house and sees her picking through trash. Is she an "angel" we don't know yet.
