I do a fair amount of camping, hiking, basically away from civilization and it drives me crazy when I kill the battery on the Ipod. I was looking on ebay and noticed that you can get a solar Ipod charger and was wondering if anyone has heard about them at all?
Mainly on Ebay they have the cheap ones out of China and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good quality one or if you have any other info about them?

i saw a little pre-show commercial for it in theatres last week. It actually a case that attaches to your ipod hook up so the back part of it is a solar panel. I havn't seen it at best buy yet. The last time a saw the electronic pre-show, they showed the powermat and it took about a month after that for it to become available in stores.
I figure it should be in stock probably sometime in the next 2 weeks. Expect to pay a mint for it though. It'll probably be around 70-90, seeing that its a case and a charger.

yeah they do have some cool stuff! however, i don't remember the name of the product. the link iromey posted looks exactly like it. Just keep looking at your local FS/BB flyers. I remember when the powermat came out, they advertised the thing like crazy. If you don't see anything in the next 2 weeks, consider ordering it online. GL!

Anyone have any experiance with these wireless chargers that can charge multiple things?
Someone told me whatever your charging needs to have some kind of accessory attached to the battery in order to use the wireless charging?

I've been looking at solar chargers for a while. Most of them are overpriced and underpowered. There is one coming out in a few months, Q3 2010, which is getting really good reviews for their pre-production reviews. It's called the SolarJoos. It will cost around $100, but it can charge an iPhone four times with it's internal battery. The best thing is that it is rugged and waterproof!

WOW I really like the looks of that one, seems like you can charge anything with it your way better off spending the extra cash and getting one that is multi use

Correct. I won't get into the technical details, but you have to add this big extra piece onto your device. Personally I think it's a cool idea but bad execution, as for that extra size and weight you could get one of those add-on battery packs and actually get a longer life.

in the future some devices that's going to be coming out will have the induction coil built in so you don't need the accessory attached to it to get it to work. it's all based on magnetic induction if i remembered correctly. i read that in a tech magazine a while back.
