: MSN messenger in your hotmail browser - how to disable?

Is there any way to disable this option? I mean, I'm always on MSN anyways so there is essentially no benefits of having it overlap. In fact, it changes my name whenever I log into hotmail, which pisses me off.

They're trying to copy gchat which is integrated into gmail.

it has been a while since I signed into Hotmail, but if I remember correctly, it needs to be configured via the browser

Tools -> Manage Add-ons -> disable the Live Messenger add-on

try:
1)log in to your hotmail account
2)options (top right corner)
3)more options
4)under Show options for (left side) select Windows Live
5)hover your mouse to top right corner where you will see your messenger account name. Or you can left click on the actual name too.
6)Select Sign out of Messenger (not the sign out button next to profile)
7)refresh your browser and you should be offline

this is a "gtalk" clone failure. Because in google mail, you can actually sign in and out.

as long as you logged out via the browser, it shouldn't automatically reconnect until you press the sign in button
