No, because you'll have to own the game/an account to play. Seeing as there is more involved "Stats" involved with your profiles rating, why would you want to play on some random Cafe account? But seeing as there is no LAN play, I could see people getting together for big games.

I played SC1 for 5+ years, so I'm sure this will have a long lasting appeal....but I'm digging the 15-20 minute games so I can play a quick game here and there

u won't need a dvd drive or the dvd to install it... there's a CD key u activate online u have a choice of installing it from the DVD or downloading the client online from battle.net and installing from that...
but WTH man DVD writers are like 20 bux, good investment lol

They're about HKD480 (CAD65) in most places for the SE Asia english version. I got mine in WanChai188 for HKD488, friend bought it for HKD480 in MongKok.

Online digital SE Asia English version is SGD109=HKD620=CAD82.

Online digital US version is USD60=HKD470 (err these exchange rates are from google)

I'm not sure which english version you are going for, but the SE Asia version will also be able to play on US servers later on, "within 60" days as stated by blizzard.

Very hard is difficult because their units are stronger than yours, it takes more than just straight powering/pushing with a large army against Very Hard AI. Need to harass/stealth/cheese

by playing on LOW your putting much less stress on the GPU so it won't heat up as much
which brand of the 8800gt do you have? because I've owned about 3 8800gt before and most of them had overheating issues which was a common problem for the evga, bfg brands

For displaying fps in game, I'd suggest MSI afterburner as it does overclocking, hardware monitoring as well as in game fps display. Free program as well and is very well received in the gaming community.

For the people that put up their SC name, you need to put a character code with it otherwise it can't be found.

The 8800 GT isn't supposed to be the minimum, its actually one of the Blizzard recommended GPUs according to a lot of what I have read :thumbsup:

We had some reports where a security program might flag the beta downloader as a trojan. It is a false positive.

We had some reports where a security program might flag the beta downloader as a trojan. It is a false positive.

Black Screens

There have been multiple reports of black screen issues being related to the use of a Quick Cam webcam.

In some cases exiting out of the software has resolved the issue but others have reported a need to uninstall the software for the camera in order to resolve the problem.

There are also reports where some security programs like Comodo firewall can cause the game to start and stay on a black screen.

just got the game...but once every while I get a pop saying I have paged pool memory low... (i got 2gb ram, and I set the page memory to 4096MB)

I don't think it actually has anything to do with the amount of memory, because the system tends to slow down to a halt (1fps) randomly...instead of during busy and graphic intensive scene.

I'm pretty sure the map editor is capable of doing that. I don't see what's wrong with leveling a marine, it doesn't have to be exactly dota. It could just be set in the starcraft universe too zomgzorz. Its not like you're gonna have all the dota characters in a SC game. It'll be its own unique dota therefore being something like dota.

The prices for the GTX 460 seem pretty fair. You can grab em for around $200. Or if you don't want to spend that much just spend the 30-50 more and get an ATI 5770.

Don't forget that its not just the video card that affects the performance. Your processor and ram can also be bottlenecks.

I'd try searching for cheaper it's kind of a waste to spend around ~$150 (ram + video card) if you're planning on getting a new system later on. Especially if you're just going to be playing for a month and 2 weeks from now until.

$600 for a mid-ranged system isn't too shabby and it'll last you a longer time and you'd only have to add a tiny bit more money to get it high end. AMD AM3 processor + an AM3 mobo would last you a lonnng time as they don't usually change their socket types.

Firstly, good choice on the processor, I personally have one and it's great for overclocking, people on stock coolers can take it to 3.4ghz.

My Coolermaster 212plus can take it to 3.7 on stock voltages without overheating.

In regards to the HD, I'd suggest getting a Caviar Black for your OS install as it'll be faster for your system in general. Selecting a fast hard drive is commonly overlooked when building a system, which then turns into a bottleneck for your computer even though you have fast RAM/cpu etc.

Probably don't need 6GB of RAM to be completely honest.

Sure you can just invest a tiny bit more money on the motherboard ($50 or so) get a board with Sata6 and USB3.0 and you've pretty much futureproofed yourself for a while.

6 pool is the "dreaded" ling rush... when you build 1 drone at the start and then you save the next 200 minerals and build your spawning pool which produces lings... You then rush these lings to your opponent and tried to either end the game there.

The 4 Warpgate Rush is a very common aggressive opening. 4 Warpgates can provide a constant stream of units that allows the player to put a lot of pressure on the opponent. It is semi all-in since even though the performing player can transition out of it, constant unit production out of 4 Warpgates allows little space for teching or expanding. Therefore, a substantial amount of damage has to be done when using this build; otherwise the opponent will likely have a large economic or technological advantage. The build also relies on the use of a proxy Pylon to quickly and continually reinforce the initial push.

game match ups are so dumb. im gold league for 3v3 and battlenet sets us up against rank 8 Plat playes....like wth. lol

You don't always play against your own division... BNET matches you against higher ranked teams so they can test your skill and if you win enough will eventually move you up a league.

How would you get any better playing the same skill level of players?

will i get into trouble (i.e. ban) if i "unallie" my teammate and beat the crap out of him.....? (non ladder game)
I had this fuking annoying teammate yesterday and he was pissing the crap out of me.

You cannot "unallie" in SC2 but you can force your units to attack him and yes blizzard made a post about this and the possibility of banning.

I noticed if you play your game in fullscreen windowed mode, and alt tab,
it's faster than running the game fullscreen and alt tabbing out of the game.

Hard Drive = 250gb LG failing on me as well I need to replace

Ram : 2gb ddr2

At the moment my plans were to upgrade it the computer to the next graphics setting over which is high.. Anyone with suggestions? Normal battles are alright but sometimes there's the point where it spikes randomly and pretty hard and it screws me over.

what's a good counter against voids ray? it seems like almost every 4v4 game i played ppl are just massing void ray...and as terran once they build up a decent size (15+) voids, there is no stopping it.

i had 10 bc and it gets owned by less than 15 void ray....which is kidna ridiculous since 10 bc costs much more resources, take longer to build, and it moves slower than the vr.

viking gets owned as well
marines is a good counter until the vr move away and hit you with the longer range. Plus it is hard to manage a few dozens of marines during late game.

did the game say anything about memory running low? I had some random extreme slow down in the game..

Yeah it says it was running on low memory, I'll give that a try Ferra.

For 4v4 Void rays I tend to build engineering bay just in case procedures and build turrets behind and next to Command center. Marines are good for 3-6 voids but once they upgrade the speed boost marines can't catch up.

From past experience when dealing with void rays vikings have to be one of the best units for anti-air against voids since they can catch up to voids and pretty much just focus fire on each void when you have around 6-10 vikings that's what I do to counter his voids.

As well for 4v4 if your team has other races such as zerg, or toss I'd use phoenix or Stalkers against void rays they are still effective against them but quite a pain to push out but worth the counter attack if you do manage to win the first battle.

In 4v4s we rush the toss that's going double gas stargate within the first 5-10 minutes of the game. That should stall them if their going voids or you can reaper rush the mineral line + gas line to make him leave or something :P

Basically what I find actually noticeable when dealing with voidray users.... they don't micro at all. They aim for your main base destroy it and run. As long as you alt a click and move back or if their running you move forward. That's how I usually keep my vikings or marines alive for the 2nd wave of Voids.

VRS > BCS Enough said at all things Cost, damage wise, time, and army size.
