Tax at Border for Private Sale?

Thinking of going down to Tulalip to grab wheels from somebody off another forum. It being a private sale I can't get a receipt, how does the process work in paying taxes at the border for them?

If you paid through paypal print out the receipt from that. Be forewarend that you may also have to pay duty on the part. If they ask, say it's made in the US. Unless it's marked on there somewhere.

Bring a receipt, proof of payment or ask the seller to hand write a bill of sale... or else be prepared to have your wheels confiscated!!!

I bought an exhaust down in Seattle and had him write up a receipt with his name, address and ph#. When the border guy saw this he said thanks because he never sees people go the extra mile and just let me though.

It was a $700 exhaust.

Just be honest, and bring a piece of paper or an e-mail of the agreement, or receipt as some people have all ready said. Don't try to make up stories.

If there is anything I have learned from bringing stuff over the boarder, it is that if you are super honest and declare everything down to the cent, they will treat you better and they might even let you go depending how much the item actually is.
