they are actually NOT that slow anymore, the 4.7 litre at least, I think it does 0-60 in around 4 second and traps around 111-114 in the quarter miles according to mags depending if it is a coupe or convertible. Which is pretty much the same performance as last gen gallardo. However, it is definitely not the fastest car of the bunch.

let's not forget the v8 Vantage is a helluva lot more expensive than an M3!
