Need help with programming a remote for my alarm (96 Integra)

Hey,

I have a 96 Integra with an Avital 2100 alarm system installed.
My wife all together destroyed my other alarm transmitter/remote. I got a new one (All numbers match, RFID and replacement parts numbers). I'm trying to reprogram it for my car...

From what I can understand, it comes down to using the valet button and the remote.

But the instructions call for the door to be open, and the key in the "on" position (two clicks forward, just before you turn over the ignition).
Problem is, when I do this, the LED doesn't light up.
When the door is open, but the key is NOT in the ignition, the LED lights properly, but the remote doesn't communicate with the brain.

Anyone???

One of our alarm technicians has installed these in the past. He may be able to help you out if you are ever in the Coquitlam area.

Thanks! If I'm passing through coquitlam any time soon, I'll stop in.
As an interim fix, I've transplanted the circuit board out of the melted remote, into the replacement remote.

Oh, and I got the programming sequence working on the car, but that other remote just won't talk to it.
