A line of hundreds stretched around Oppenheimer Park as ritzy chefs served up some Southern hospitality to Downtown Eastside residents Tuesday.

Chefs, staff and volunteers from the Glowbal restaurant group served thousands of Texas-style barbecue meals all day as their way of giving back to the community.

Why must you focus on a shitty thing when their deed and initiative has good intentions?

I say good on them for doing a good thing (given the purpose is not solely for self-promotion.

He also said when he asked his staff for volunteers, pretty much everyone jumped at the chance.

Brings a little tear to my eye :)

That's Emhad. His story is one of rags to riches so i'm sure this isn't just another publicity stunt, they have been doing this for years and this is a chance to give something back.

Its not just self promotion... Its also done for tax reasons..

I'm not taking away the fact that its a good thing for the community but you gotta realize that rich people "give back to the community" all the time to pay less taxes.. One of the advantages of having a good accountant..

Who cares? Sucking money out of the riches and distributing them to the poor who needs food. Sounds good to me.
