That's because this isn't a complete list, just the salaries that where released. I personally know that on Smallville a couple of our leads make well more than some on that list, my buddy on Supernatural would also be up there too if his salary was released.

also expect Ashley Tisdale's salary to be bumped up when WB gives us the official order for a full 22. Everyone on Hellcats were all basically on pilot deals and half 1st season deals.

Just as an FYI, it usually takes approx 10-15 shooting days per episode, so those salaries are per approx 2 weeks work.

for me it's hard to believe the average show would take that long to shoot..considering many shows they start the season with only half of it filmed..especially the new series that start with 8 episodes and they continue on shooting depending on the viewership of the pilot.

Doesn't work that way, no show on a regular fall schedule would have half their season shot before it airs. We are currently on production of episode 3 and 4 for Smallville and episode 4 and 5 for Hellcats and then post-production still needs to work on it. Our writers I believe are only on episode 6 of Smallville right now. To give you an idea, we began shooting the fall season of Smallville and Hellcats mid and early July for early and late September airing dates respectively.

At times there are also last minute re-shoots, I've seen shows shot and post delivered just 2 days before airing date. Not all things go according to plan either, like on Supernatural right now, they are on production on episodes 1 and 2, but have completed episode 4 and will actually air episode 4 first as the season premiere. Confussed yet lol

Not really, usually when its running that close to ship date, its just the post production that needs to be done, bascially VFX doing rig removal, matte paintings and other effects, so the post guys would work OT until its done.

Tried crashing one of the Smallville sets last night out by the Boundary Bay airport. Chatted with the PA that was blocking the road for a while (I forgot how shitty of a job that is) before me and my friend turned around. She wanted to watch meteors more than chat with a lowly PA, though she did share a story about how she rejected the actor that plays Lex Luthor (forgot his name ATM) after he hit on her at a club. :lol

I remember one episode of Dark Angel that I was helping on that wrapped filming 36 hours prior to the scheduled release day, thanks to about 48 hours worth of extra reshoots that needed to be completed. Oh how the post production crew hated the director for that one...

Yea, from what I recall, DA was notorious last minute rewrites and reshoots. Our post crew had a fit last season when 48hrs before air date, our director decided that a scene that we shot in the day on a sunny day would look better if it was at night, so the post crew had to be pulled in on their days off to convert everything into night time haha.

How can people get paid soooo fucking much!! Someone needs to fucking regulate where money goes and how much someone should REALLY get!

I hate to sound like a snob, but in all honesty, any actor getting paid under 150k per episode on TV isn't really getting paid much by industry standards.

I deal with mostly private security for the actors. My clients include actors, studios, etc.., sometimes, my client(s) who are actors are more comfortable working with me, so in those situations they request the studio or production to hire me on and I deal with all aspects from their personal security, accomdations, logistics, locations, transport, etc... in short I'm a glorified babysitter :D

Where is does all this money come from when paying for the actors? I mean it seems the actors get paid more than the whole production.

From the only reason why TV shows are made, not to entertain, but to sell products. A 30 second ad spot on a primetime show goes from anywhere from $150,000 to $300,000, depending on the shows ratings. Product placements in shows & dvd sales also brings in revenue, but by far the #1 revenue generator are the syndication & licensing rights for the show to air in other countries and to other networks for reruns after the show ends.

Examples, for our show Hellcats, the studio just sold the Canadian airing rights to CTV's A Channel network to air the show in Canada. Those Seinfeld and Office reruns that you see airing, NBC sold those syndication rights to the networks airing them.

vash13
08-15-2010, 08:59 PM
So the TV shows basically make their revenue through selling their rights to a tv network to air the show. What happens to some of the shows that are not able to get a channel network to air their show?

A show doesn't happen if a network doesn't pick it up. The most important time for networks is the annual upfront presentations, this is where the schedules are released and pitches are made to advertisers giving them an "upfront" opportunity to buy commercial ad slots in advance. Shows get cancelled if there isn't sufficient advertiser interest to buy ad slots.

Similarly, the US networks also hold upfront presentations to Canadian media networks and other countries. The American shows you see airing on CTV, Global, etc.., those Canadian channels have bought the licensing rights to air those shows to a Canadian audience and in turn sell ad space to Canadian advertisers.

"Two and a Half Men" Child Star Signs Huge Contract
Child Star Angus T. Jones Set to Make Some Big Bucks

Hollywood, FL 10/10/2010 01:00 PM GMT (TransWorldNews)

"Two and a Half Men" is still one of the most popular shows on TV these days. So it is not too surprising that 'half'-man child star Angus T. Jones, is set to make some big bucks as he continues to play one of the main characters on the hit CBS show. According to TMZ.com, the 16-year-old actor has recently signed an extension contract with the show worth $300,000 per episode. The hefty contract was signed on May 12th and promises $7.8 million over the next two seasons, in addition to a $500,000 signing bonus. And that is just for a minimum of 26 episodes over the next two years. Jones could actually earn $14.4 million in the next two years if he appears in every one of the 48 episodes that CBS has planned. E! Online put the story humorously, saying, "That Two and a Half Men Kid Makes More in a Week Than You Will All Year. Enjoy Your Weekend." Jones will very likely be enjoying his weekend, because this young millionaire's 17th birthday was on Friday.

Also making big bucks with the hit show is Charlie Sheen, who plays Jones' uncle on the show. Around the same time that Jones was inking his lucrative deal, Sheen was signing a huge contract of his own. He is set to earn $2 million an episode, which translates into at least $52 million over the next two years.

Charlie Sheen Had ‘Allergic Reaction,’ Says Rep. ‘Yeah, To Cocaine,’ Says Hooker.

While Charlie Sheen’s rep is seriously trying to sell the old “my client just had an allergic reaction to some medication” excuse, the hooker claims an already-drunk Charlie flipped out after snorting a line of cocaine, according to RadarOnline:

“She said after he did the coke, he flipped out, couldn’t find his wallet and accused her of stealing it.”
Things quickly went downhill from there, with the disturbance in the room growing louder and louder.

I touched on this briefly in the previous post, but again, what happened here is nothing short of amazing. Granted, I should be focusing on how Charlie Sheen should’ve gone to jail, but I can’t get over the fact that Brooke Mueller, the mother of his newborn children, was jealous over a song he sings with his daughter Sam and got a knife to a throat with threats to use ex-police to hide her body for it. Meanwhile, a random prostitute allegedly steals from him, and she walks away with nary a scratch as he turns his rage towards inanimate objects instead. Talk about a deep, highly-trained respect for the profession. It’s almost unnatural.

On a side note, yes, that is CBS president Les Moonves up top. The photo was taken just last month where he referred to Charlie as his “cleanup hitter” because Les Moonves has a horrible sense of irony and feeds off the domestic violence of others.

Charlie Sheen goes up again!

So Charlie Sheen, a rich, alcoholic, whore monger, gets $52 million to play a rich, alcoholic, whore monger on t.v.? He doesn't even have to respond to a different name, his "character's" name is Charlie.
