| BBQ Ban
My friends and I are planning to have a bbq but there's word that vancouver park boards are banning bbqs? where can i have a bbq instead? i was originally gonna do it at kits beach
"Update Just a quick note: As of July 31st you cannot smoke or have a charcoal BBQ or fire of any kind in Vancouver parks or on the beaches. Please wait for the ban to be lifted before taking your grill out and about."

I was at Spanish Banks on Sunday and lots of people had charcoal bbq's going with no problems including my friends. Fire department was there, but no issues.

I use propane for convenience but I still toss a few lumps of charcoal into the propane grill for flavour

please dont tell me this ban is on because they are afraid a forest fire will break out in the urban area, lol.
No offense to anyone particular, but it just seems like Vancouver is full of a bunch of really dumb people. They wouldn't have to ban this if people just smartened up. (the same people that think Stanley park is a huge forest).
If you have a fire anywhere, you should have a bunch of water, and maybe some fire suppression system. I remember as a kid going camping all the time, we always had a method to put out the fire properly. aka, water, stirr, more water, more stirring. And if its a backyard BBQ, just keep it away from your vynl siding on your house! I'm 100% positive that if you have an extinguisher or big cooler of water, nobody is going to tell you that you cannot have a fire ...if they do, send them to me
