tour of Russian billionaire's $300 million yacht

Yahoo! Canada News
by Katherine Scarrow

Talk about lifestyles of the absurdly rich and famous!

In another decade, Robin Leach would've leapt at the opportunity to tour Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichencko's 394-foot yacht, which has never before been seen by the public - until now.

According to the Huffington Post, the Wall Street Journal gained exclusive access to the ship called 'A,' which reportedly costs more than $300 million and is hotly debated in the boating community for its radical exterior.

Brought to life by legendary French designer Phillipe Starck, the 'A' features three pools, a discotheque and even a padded guest room covered in white stingray hides.

The pimped-out luxury cruiser also features a $60,000 banister, a secret room created specifically for 'nookie' and a helipad, just in case wildly wealthy guests of the 38-year-old Melnichencko feel like dropping by.

Watch the Wall Street Journal's exclusive tour of the famous yacht below:

the overall cost for that much design and innovation isnt that bad really, neither is the 60k staircase considering how big it is

If that's the big house that no one knows who is building my company quoted a very large underground propane tank last month. That house is going to be self sustained with the two generators to handle a 9.0 earthquake and could run over a month with out side power.

sounds like the one, the generators are bang on, didnt know anything regarding the tanks but the Tiki torches alone in the back yard need their own 3" line, and should be visible from Vancouver when lit up

'$60,000 banister'

Ships not big enough for that. Even if it was made of platinum and diamonds.

This boat's got nothing on the biggest yacht in the world, the Eclipse:

Quote:
M/Y Eclipse is a luxury yacht constructed by Blohm + Voss in Hamburg, Germany. The yacht is owned by Roman Abramovich, the exact length is unknown, however is believed to be over 164 metres (538 ft) long, and is due to be delivered to Abramovich in 2010 after the finishing touches have been applied. This makes Eclipse the world's largest private yacht, 11 metres (36 ft) longer than the world's previous biggest yacht Dubai, which belongs to Sheikh Mohammed, the ruler of Dubai. The yacht's initial cost was estimated at € 340 million (circa $485 million US), but a September 2009 report indicated that final costs could approach € 800 million ($1.2 billion US).

Eclipse has two helicopter pads, 11 guest cabins, two swimming pools, several hot tubs and a disco hall. She also comes equipped with three launch boats, and a mini-submarine that is capable of submerging to 50 meters. Approximately 70 crew members are needed to operate the yacht.

For security, Eclipse is fitted with intruder detection systems and a German-built missile defense system. The windows in Abramovich's master suite and the yacht's bridge are also fitted with bullet-proof glass and both are armor plated. The yacht is also reportedly equipped with an anti-paparazzi shield in the form of lasers that sweep the surroundings, and when they detect a CCD, they fire a bolt of light right at the camera to obliterate any photograph. According to The Times, these don’t run all the time, so friends and guests should still be able to grab snaps. Instead, they will be activated when guards spot likely professional photographers nearby. How such a device actually functions is unclear.
This guy literally makes it FLOOD instead of RAIN. He owns Chelsea FC. For anyone that doesn't know soccer, just imagine Yankees + Leafs + NY Rangers + Lakers combined. Now imagine having a party on that.
