An epic traffic jam spanning more than 100 kilometres has forced drivers to keep their feet on the brakes for nine days, CNN reports.
The problem was caused by highway construction, but accidents and broken-down vehicles have added to the chaos.
Thousands of trucks have been stuck since August 14 between the Inner Mongolia Autonomu Region and the Chinese capital of Beijing, state media says.
Adding to the drivers' annoyance, some "entrepreneurs" have taken advantage of the situation by gouging food prices. According to Time, one truck driver complained that vendors were selling instant noodles for 'four times the original price while I wait in the congestion.'
Traffic eased up and returned to normal on Monday. "
