Hey guys,

I was originally paired with 2 19" LCD for my workstation; however, one of them failed on me, so now having only one is insufficient. So, here's my question, should I buy an additional 19" LCD and go back to multi-display or should I buy a 24" as a standalone?

I can't put a 24" and 19" side-by-side, as I don't have the space for it, so it's either one 24" or two 19" LCD together. I don't game neither.

if its for work then I say go for two 19's as you can swap programs on the screen. if its for just home use then get the 24.

my setup at work is two 19"s widescreen and at home at 24" hd monitor

It's actually for home use.

what about 3 17"?
much cheaper since 17" is like $40 a pop now.

If table space is lacking buy yourself an Ergotron arm for the 19". I have one for my 20" and it's great. You regain table space and you can have your monitor at any angle or position you want.

depends on what you do more
for work like documents, excel, db, multiple windows...etc, get 2x 19"
for entertainment like gaming, movies, 1x 24"

Put the 24" in landscape beside the 19".

get a dual monitor, u can settle for a big 24' monitor but nothing beats multitasking with a seperate monitor

There is no best answer to your question. The choice is a personal preference. It also depends on the programs you use. You make no mention of your typical usage.

Two 19" monitors have more pixels than a 24", and are generally better for people who run two programs simultaneously, i.e. one for a browser and another for email.

If you run one program only, and you can use a bigger screen, then a 24" is better, i.e. for watching a movie.

24" is standard these days. I have two side by side.

If you don't have room on your desk, consider getting a monitor arm mount...clears up a lot of desk space.
