: Witness Wanted/Needed - Aug 29 RS meet second lot

!oHenry

Hey, I need a witness for what happened to my bike(CBR600f2) at the RS meet. I was parked in the second lot near the far fence. So what happened was when the meet winded down, I went to get my bike. I started the bike and when i tried to roll out, i realized my clutch cable was snapped and the clutch lever was bent. Upon further inspection, I discovered the mirror was bent/scratched, kick stand was crooked, shifter lever was bent, handle bar all scraped up , fairings scratched and cracked and my helmet scratched. My guess was some idiot was sitting on it (without permission) and leaned it over and dropped it, then picked it back up and left.

If anyone has any information at all on a bike being dropped, please pm me or send me a text.

Thanks, rs

Henry

PS: It was still an awesome meet despite what happened.

Someone MUST have seen it... a bike dropping isn't what you would consider as subtle.

Wish you the best of luck Henry. Too bad you had to use your last tow of the year! :(

yeah this is the incident i mentioned in the other thread, it is seriously a low move to drop/knock over a bike breaking multiple things and then picking it back up pretending it never happened. he had to find out himself being unable to ride home.

There were a couple chicks climbing on the green/black bike by the tents. Maybe they climbed on yours too...???

Shit so much happened near the end of the meet! I was parked with the integras and saw the bikes parked near the fence but saw nothing suspicious. Hope this issue gets settled cause there is nothing worse then ppl being careless of other vehicles especially at a event like this! Good luck bro!

Hey, thanks for all the support, means alot knowing this a community and not just another forum. Unfortunately, I still haven't received any new information about the incident, but I still have hope that someone who knows will still come forward. As for the bike, will start picking up parts tomorrow, as today is monday and most bike shops are closed.

that sucks. what also sucks must be all the bystanders that probably saw it happen that didn't say anything then and aren't saying anything now.

like it was said earlier, dropping a bike and then picking one up after is not a subtle thing.

OP, are you going to go through ICBC?

price out the parts and fix it yourself, you might even want to upgrade the parts while you're at it. It doesn't make sense to go through icbc as the cost of everything will be below your deductible.

Chump move but the culprit will not come forward.

Jgresch

^ how do you know his deductable and cost of parts? I bet it will be far more than his deductable....

Based on the outcome of the damage, it will cost more than the dedictible itself. The helmet is useless since it's been dropped so it has to be replaced.

To be honest, if i saw it happen I probably wouldn't have said anything either.

Not because I'm at all a douche, it's just I would assume that the bike was that persons. It would never occur to me that someone would sit on someone else's bike. That's just retarded/.

well, i'd think i'd recognize by their reactions and actions thereafter whether they were the owners or not. if they just picked the bike up and then walked away =/= owners. if they're crying over their busted fairings and dented helmet = owner. :p

I am not sure at the moment. My deductable is 300, so in the morning, I was planning to get a rough estimate on parts. I was doing some research online and it would cost me about 150 to get riding again. It's the fairings that would cost me quite a bit which I can't afford right now. It wont be pretty, but at least it'll be rideable. If it ends up over 300, then I will report it. Not sure if I have a strong case without witnesses though...

I am hoping that isnt the case. I was thinking about sending it to shoei to get it inspected to see if it is still usable.

Sorry to hear what happened. It really pisses me off when people do this kinda shit. Even if strangers lean against my car and talk to their friends while im inside a restaurant/store eating or purchasing something. Thoes people have ZERO respect for other peoples belongings. Especially that i worked hard for my car and they dont give a rats ass. As for me, im one of thoes few guys out there (including RS members because u guys care about eachother) respect other peoples cars and belongings.

ah thats bullshit man. why can't people keep their hands off of other peoples shit. lets face it the person isn't going to come forward. since this was at an RS meet everyone chip in 5 bucks and help the man get his bike fixed. how many people are on RS 5 bucks each isn't going to kill anyone and he is clearly stating he is in a position to not get his bike fixed at this time. I missed the event but I'm still in. whats the final cost to get your bike repaired?

To everyone that has said "it was just an accident" please stop.

It is not an accident to get on a motorcycle that is not yours. Similarly it would not be an accident for me to decide to open your car door, even if I "accidentally" slam it into another car.

Don't touch other people's property. Once you do, anything that results is not an accident.

If Henry can find the person that dropped it, definitely they owe him a new lid. Otherwise it is probably ok, it is not like this was a 50+ kmph impact.

How bad are the fairings? Your bike needed some TLC, if they aren't cracked that badly then I'd just fix them this winter and rattle can the entire bike at the same time (plus drill and install frame sliders!).

Just get it riding and enjoy what is left of the season. Make it pretty again in the winter.

UPDATE: Installed a few parts today,(clutch cable, clutch lever) and repaired some others( mirror, kickstand). Bike is now ridable. Probably going to end up buying new fairings in the winter and installing them next spring, or I may attempt to repair the current ones. Fairings as of now are still usable albeit scratched and cracked.

Hopefully no one will have to go through what I went through again. Thanks for all the support RS.
Henry

PS: To the person(s) who knocked over my bike:
Thanks for nothing you inconsiderate a*hole. You cost me time and money that I didn't have. I hope you learn to respect other peoples property, and man up if you f*cked up.

I'm glad that you're able to ride it now... but it's maddening to know you needed to throw out time and money that you wouldn't normally have had to if someone didn't mess with your bike.

Hell, even if somehow the guy sees this and fronts you cash for the repairs, I'm sure you'd be more than happy to keep him anonymous in exchange for a little decency on his part. Just man up.

Not really racist!

Not to be a dick, but i'd rather donate 5 bucks to a charity or buy some food for someone who needs it. Not someone who has a bike and if he couldn't really afford it he wouldn't of fixed it.

That being said it still sucks that you brought your bike to a car meet where everyone should be respecting each others rides and some tend to forget that.

Sucks for the OP, as any kind of accident blows let alone one that you didn't even cause. Best of luck getting your bike back to it's proper form.

My bike fell on its own when parked on ashphalt.

I'm mildly surprised that noone else has thought of this possibility. I have seen a bike fall over on it's own before.

As far as the helmet, my brothers dirtbike/motorbike helmet came with a thing saying that if it was ever dropped at all on pavement that it needs to be replaced (my ski helmet says this as well) due to tiny hairline fractures that can reduce the effectiveness of the helmet. I'm not sure if this is true or more of a precautionary thing that the manufacturer sticks on there so they can't get sued.
