yeah I never knew Toyota owned Mazda. I knew Ford sold Mazda, but didn't know that it was Toyota that picked them up; and I always thought Toyota had a joint venture with Subaru, didn't think they owned them too.

Toyota has no dominating ownership of either Subaru or Mazda though.
Only Daihatsu is >50% owned by Toyota making it completely under control of Toyota. (Daihatsu manufactures all kei car class cars for Toyota, and Toyota sells Daihatsu the Toyota Bb as the Daihatsu Materia....etc)
