Tried this for the first time yesterday, WOW! If you like mountain biking and are looking for a challenge, this is it!

I'm one to dive head first into activities, anything to get the adrenaline going, yet holy crap looking down a rock face with loose rocks, bigger boulders, drop offs and huge holes is intimidating. I wiped out a ton trying all kinds of courses. My hands are sore today from the death grip I had on my bars and brakes.

The cooler weather and shorter days means there's less riders on the mountain until Oct 11 when it closes, so it is a good time to try if you're interested.

Does anyone here do this often? I'd love some tips of how to corner better, I found it really hard to hang off the back of the bike, keep a finger on the brakes, and still whip the front wheel around the trees.

I've been wanting to try downhill for a long long time.

How much did everything end up costing you? I'm assuming you rented...

edit: it will take time if ur not big into mountain biking or ur just trying it for the first time, you start to release where you should place your feet, hands, and when to brake and all that. All takes time I used to bike probably everyday in the watershed they got some decent gaps and log rides in there. Is there a lot of log rides? I love those things

I was up there for crankworx, so much fun. Definitely getting my own bike next year.

$150 to rent bike and full gear (helmet, gloves, chest/back, forearms/elbows, shins/knees) if you rent from Summit and reserve online (10% off).

$50 for a day pass for the mountain, plus food/gas, so about $250/day.
