Wrong :p
Chicago:
Colosimo was in charge of Torrio who was in charge of Capone.
Torrio had Colosimo killed b/c of his refusal of the liquor business.
Torrio takes over Colosimo's role and gives his area to Capone giving him his start to his rise of fame.
New York:
Rothstein (richest gangster in the country) is in charge of Lucky Luciano
New Jersey:
Steve Buscemi is in charge and looks like the distributor to the rest of the crew.

The show is progressing at a snail's pace. They couldn't even kill Jimmy in the same episode. Even though I know better, I really want Jimmy to get killed. I'm not a fan of his character at all.
it's a mini-series - stuff will happen, and you know it will get resolved... and it's not like lost where they will leave you hanging.

I don't think it's a mini series.
it's a mini-series - stuff will happen, and you know it will get resolved... and it's not like lost where they will leave you hanging.
This isn't a mini series. They've already been given the green light for a second season after the series premiere aired.
Posted on Sept 21st
On Tuesday, the network announced that it has renewed its new prohibition-era drama for a second season just one episode out of the can, MediaWeek.com (http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/content_display/news/cable-tv/e3i430e0ec60c443f099a03de4926b85baf) dishes. The show’s $18 million Martin Scorcese-directed pilot garnered 4.8 million viewers on Sunday to become HBO’s most-watched series premiere since Deadwood drew in 5.79 million views on March 24, 2004.
Boardwalk — which stars Steve Buscemi as 1920’s Atlantic City political boss Enoch “Nucky” Thompson — boasted additional plays at 10:15 PM and 11:30 PM, which actually scored 7.1 million total viewers for the night. The series even trumped the series premiere of vampire-themed ratings juggernaut True Blood, which drew just 1.44 million viewers when it debuted in Sept. 2008.
“All the ingredients aligned for this one, from [producers] Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson’s initial pitch, to Martin Scorsese’s enormous contributions as director and executive producer, to the genius of [executive producer] Terry Winter and the expertise of [producer] Tim Van Patten, to a stellar cast led by Steve Buscemi,” HBO’s President of Programming, Michael Lombardo, said in a statement. “The response from the media and our viewers has been nothing short of amazing.”

I'm looking forward to seeing how they're going to pull off the Jimmy storyline in BE. I'm not a big fan of him but considering he's one of the main protagonists, I can't see them killing him off right away.

Give it some time, I'm a big The Wire fan but this could shape up to be a very good show considering the money invested and the people behind it. I'm intrigued as to what they'll do with Capone, and I gotta stick to this since Mad Men only has one ep left, and this season has been bloody fantastic.

Jimmy seems to have some of the best killing scenes in the series.
Anybody still watching this? I'm liking the series more and more - it's really picking up.
I still watch it.
I was hoping Lucy would die during child birth. Her character is just a classless, whoreish train wreck that needs to be purged from TV. I always fast forward through her scenes.
Margaret needs to get off her high horse. She has forgotten where she came from. Her constant criticism of the help is annoying; "there's children in the house" is some sort of BS reason she uses to complain about everything. Has there been a single episode where we haven't seen that furrowed brow of hers?
I want to see more of Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, and the rest of the mob.

Margaret - I think they thought her character was too likeable in the first season, so they're giving people a reason to hate her a bit more. She's only saying "there's children in the house" because she's jealous of her hot maid.
I want to see more of Chalky White - but it looks like his character has gone quite quiet.

Supposedly Jimmy aka Michael Pitt was difficult to work with which would make sense why he was killed off so earlier in the series. And if the writers were looking for a shocking end, Nucky killing off Eli would have given most viewers the shock value, I still feel that Nucky and Jimmy made the show, lets see who steps up in place of Jimmy.

I agree completely. I hope in season 3 Rothstein, Luciano, and Capone characters develop more......
Obviously Nucky is a stone cold calculated killer, however, Steve Buscemi (spelling?) makes you like Nucky. I am always routing for Nucky to kick ass and make the other guys look like idiots.

bought the blu-ray of season 1 and fell in love and downloaded season 2
really loving the show
I hope Michael Shannons character isn't written out though, it seemed a little sudden though i guess that has to do with his superman filming?
Kelly Macdonalds character developed rather oddly imo i dont think they really showed the turn from humble housewife to grade-a bitch adequately
the whole situation with Jimmy his mom and dad was very Hamlet like and you could see it coming what a shame about the ending though him and Nucky are the crux to the show imo
side note im so glad Buscemi got this role he's perfect in it!, always enjoyed his acting even though they were really just bit parts

I was hoping Nucky was going to hire the kid and use him as a spy and eventually go against Owen Slater in terms of running things for Nuck
I felt it was too easy and weak for the writers to have Nucky kill the kid to make a point to Owen instead
Capone laid down a fantastic beating. A quality beating on par with Joe Pesci's pen attack in Casino.
That kid couldn't be relied on. He lied about his age and the fact that he doesn't smoke. He barely knows Nucky and he's already lying to the guy? Can't be trusted.

They wasted time with the whole Billie Kent BS, but made up for it with some nice dialog between AR and Nucky. Rare to see AR show frustration or anger.
This show would be awesome if all they showed was the NY/Chicago/AC angles. No one cares about Margaret. I wonder why they bothered filing the serial numbers off the gun, it's not like CSI NY was invented yet. The police are so corrupt/incompetent, Bugsy has hardly anything to worry about if he tossed the gun after.

What character do you guys think will get whacked this season and basically axed from the series?
Realistically, Gyp. Masseria next, most likely.
People who I want to die, but probably won't: Gillian, Margaret, and Margaret's creepy son.
I have to disagree about the last episode. I thought it sucked like the 3 or 4 that came before it. The pace is too slow. The whole episode I wanted to see whether or not the other crews would band together and fight Masseria/Gyp together. Waited till pretty much the end of the damn episode, and was left disappointed. I swear, the writers are tricking us into watching the boring shit, just to see the half interesting scraps.
You know how you sometimes loathe a character so much, that it makes you feel almost the same way about the actor/actress behind that character? That's about how I feel about Margaret and Gillian right now.

I totally agree with Margaret, she's boring and throughout the series she hasn't really done much except for trying to achieve personal goals and Margaret's son is an odd character but I suspect he's going to do something really unexpected because I don't see why else the writers would be make us focus on him like they have.
I thought the latest episode was pretty good. The post-concussion effects made for real tense dialogue.

Was kind of surprised they killed off Owen, but I couldn't see the two "running away" as the way that both characters leave the show.
Next episode looks great! That's the Boardwalk Empire we all want to watch, none of this sappy, boring bullshit. Definitely looks as if the Harrow is ready to murk Gillian from the promo as well, so I think that's a pretty good guess. Looking forward to seeing some good ol' gun fights.

Best episode of the series. No exaggerations.
Nucky got some nice kills in the beginning. I bet it was a shocker for him to see how little power and loyalty in others he actually has.
Props to Chalky for being a standup guy throughout.
Next episode looks even better:

just watched it.... finally, now that the season is over the show becomes watchable.... :seriously:
and i thought that ending scene with Capone was cheesy; im surprised it's a popular one
cant believe we gotta wait a year again for more episodes (after the next one) hope it wont be 10 more snoozefest episodes and a couple good ones
They could've done so much more with Van Alden. I was waiting for him to get mobbed up and start killing people for a living.
I think people liked that scene with Capone at the end, not just because of how he was protrayed, but also because it meant that Nucky now had a fair chance of fighting back. Probably goes without saying, but worth the reminder.
When Gillian walked into the room and up to the tent, I thought Gyp was in there. It makes sense, he's completely crazy.
Even though it was nice to see Harrow kill people, the whole scene seemed so implausible. Almost every guy Harrow saw, he got the 1st shot off on. For the few guys on the staircase who shot at Harrow first, they all missed. At one point, Harrow is literally standing there and just firing at every guy looking at him. It's like they all circled around him waiting for their turn to get killed.
We never found out what Capone got out of the whole deal.

You guys complaining about how the show is boring until the end of season has no patience for drama and build up.
^Whatever, bro. If you like shows that move at a sloth-like pace, with a supporting cast that is arguably far too big, and subplots that go nowhere, then I'm sure the wait was worth it for you.
I don't need action every episode to be entertained. I do need to see interesting and relevant storylines that match the genre of the show.
And by 'bro', I mean never my bro.

I think Capone's deal is probably involves a plan to take out Torio (sp?) and letting him run the show. He always wanted to "make it big" sorta thing

Earlier in the season I thought Capone would usurp Torrio, and take him out. What the show has shown us is that after Torrio came back from Italy, he literally just wants to relax. From the looks of it he's already letting Capone handle just about everything anyway.

i enjoyed the finale but this time it felt like they tried to stuff too much into it and end unique points too quickly like Luciano, and Rothstein getting the upper hand on Nucky only to have it taken away with 1 phone call
but it was a good episode, the part with Harrow was a bit fantastical he should have at least gotten shot and preferably critically shot with his final scene being the part with him taking the kid to safety (maybe that will still happen?)
I had it dvr'd and it stopped recording before the show ended, did anything happen after Nucky was pulling a smoke out at the boardwalk? it cut out right when a couple asked him if he was Nucky
What you missed and what it meant:
This season, the series entered more depressing and psychological territory, and it's likely that Thompson will continue to develop into a more introspective and guarded character, rather than the showy and complacent honcho he once was.
In the end, we see a different Nucky on the same old boardwalk. He has "won," eliminated a volatile enemy and check-mated his most powerful rival. He's back in control of Atlantic City, but he yearns for a certain anonymity. He ditches his signature boutonniere, and declines the doormen at the Ritz.
As he puts it, "I don't want anyone knowing who I am. I don't want anyone looking into my business. I don't want anyone coming near us who we don't already trust."

the first few episodes are not action packed, but it seems like they are building good groundwork for some serious action coming up (FBI in Nucky's operation, and Van Alden working for Capone, etc.)
I really enjoyed the character of Frank Capone. It's a shame he died.
Don't much care for Eddie's death.
I don't know why Van Alden walks around like he's afraid of his own shadow. What happened to the confidence?
I still hate Gillian. It was rather nice to see that her physical appearance finally reflect her inner disgusting self. I hated how she tried to be so proper, when we all know she's a bottom bitch.
Great to see Margaret fucked off somewhere else. That hypocritical, uppity bitch and her little Charlie Manson-looking, creepy ass son.

Shits getting serious with the season finale right around the corner.
Harrow is not a garbage man, he's a dishwasher.
After the shootout @ Capone's place, he's like "Good thing Johnny wasn't here" or something like that. Then Van Alden said something that made me think Torrio was behind the shooting. I guess Torrio is not comfortable with how much Capone is inserting himself into the business.

Season premiere was last night, anyone catch it? i watched it but i don't know don't really feel interested or drawn into it even though it was an alright ep
There seemed to be way too much fast forwarding of the story without enough backfill.
Meyer shows up and the only mention of Rothstein's death was "since AR's funeral"?! I always thought AR as a pretty big supporting character, so to have his death mentioned like that seemed kind of shitty.
Interested to see how they play Luciano's story because that seems to be one of the interesting ones.
They only have 8 episodes this season so they don't have a lot of screen time to work with. That said, I think they're wasting it by going into Nucky's past. Not saying it's not interesting. Just that I'd rather see more present day stuff.
I like Nucky's new bodyguard.

Good episodes so far, shame they're rushing it like hell :/
thought the ending for Chalky was lame though
I think this whole season has been underwhelming. The flashbacks they're showing should've introduced earlier in the series, not the last season. Especially with only 8 episodes, they need to focus on the present.
Chalky's ending was lame!
I enjoy these flashbacks because it brings Nucky and Gillian's story full circle. I was always wondering how Jimmy came about, so I enjoy it quite a bit. It's a shame they had to put that in during the final season with only 8 episodes, though.
I'm also loving all the screen time they're doing on The Commission. It'd be so awesome if HBO did a series on Al Capone and his rise, or a more in depth look at Luciano's rise to be the biggest crime boss in history.
