you should have gone this year. I believe its their 200th anniversary this year. Probably would have been crazier than any other year.
On a side note... Prost! =)

^ from the link:
"While this year marks the 177th Oktoberfest to be held, 2010 is the 200th anniversary of the very first Oktoberfest in 1810 (some years were missed due to war or cholera outbreaks)"
How much does flight + accommodation + events over there cost? (directed at those that have went before)
I've always said that I'd do a vacation to Asia this year and a vacation to Europe next year so this actually falls in line with the time table and dates I want to travel

I cant comment on the flight as i did a whole europe trip at the same time. . . But i remember to get to munich from athens it was $100 for the flight, they really jack up hostel and hotel prices during oktoberfest and i knw some places u have to book a year in advance while orhers have like june 1st open as their booking season. . . The hostel i stayed in was like a 5 min walk from the grounds but it was kinda pricey BUT worth it when u stumble home at 12 when the fair closes for the night. . . .the fair is free to enter as are the tents BUT to get a table is often hard and some tables (i think ones with table cloths) require you to buy food to be able to drink. One beer was 9 i think which is one litre in size. . . All rides were a few euro as was the food. . . On a side note i think they stop serving beer at 1030 or 11 and close the tents to get people out before the grounds close for the night. . . .also you must drink and the bar marry-go-round thye serve shots and beer. . .fun times

Generally flights from YVR to major air ports in Europe (paris, london) will run you about 1800. You can go via air transat but seriously. they might as well put fucking chicken cages on your lap. Cause it aint a comfy flight. Accomodation...for oktoberfest you're probably shit out of luck but you can try hostels.
As far as events.. There really isnt cover for the drinking parks. Unless they start charging you for it during oktoberfest knowing its a tourist trap.

I was in Munich about 2 weeks ago. Went to visit the Hofbrauhaus (sp?). During regular year, they only have guys serving you. They only import the hot beer wenches during Oktoberfest, lol

I'm in Steyr, Austria. I made the trip over the weekend between school. I'm on a semester abroad.

Not totally true. When i was there in July they had some pretty cute girls serving. They even had a hot asian girl serving the pretzels. LOL
Oh and RS worked for me at hotel computers. The only problem I had with RS was with a netcafe in Prague.

Yeah, I was at that beer hall in June and was served by a hot waitress. It's crazy how many steins they can bring at once :p

Same. I went to the Humboldt University in Berlin. It has been the best decision I made so far.
