So I bought something from the states, and i paid $40 for duty. But it was the wrong item, so I'm going to be returning it.

Is it possible to get a reimbursement on the duty fees?

usually on the back of your duties receipt (if you pay at the door) there's an adjustment request form printed on the back for you to fill out (very minimal fill out since most of the info is already on the sheet)

The package is from UPS, but i didnt see anything on the back of the invoice..

Google wasnt being my friend, does anyone know where i send the form to? or do i attach it onto the return parcel?

BTW, is the "brokerage fee" something that can be refunded? Or just the GST/HST portion?

I heard somehwere that brokerage fee is actually the fee UPS charges for doing all the paperwork, etc. meaning that the gov't will only refund me the 3 dollars?!?!

Correct. Its a non-refundable service.
Besides, getting money from UPS is like buying a british car with no electrical issues. Its just not going to happen.

I submitted a refund request back in April. It's been three months and I haven't heard anything back yet. Tried calling the CBSA office but I just hit voicemails that don't seem to call back...

Is the Hamilton St. office for the public? Anything else I can do?

I also sent my refund in back in april. Got my refund in the mail last week.

This was also sent to the Hamilton st. office.

Did you keep any photo copy the documents you sent in? Always a good idea incase they loose it.

Did they send you the refund by way of a cheque? What does the envelope look like? I recently moved so my mom picks up my mail at her place.

It's $400 worth of refund. So it's not chump change either. :(

Yes, it was a cheque. Just like your regular tax refund in a government envelope. Nothing special.
