When i charge my Ont clients they get charges ONT HST... No biggie really.
The harmonized sales tax in Ontario is 13%
Ours is 12%
That's the only difference. What used to be provincial sales tax is higher there than here, am I correct?

the HST screws things up quite a bit for cross border shopping.
now if you buy something from Alberta, they have to charge you BC HST. a pain in the ass for alberta companys, and plus you pay more. before no PST was charged.
they charge HST because it's a federal tax, you always have to pay the federal taxes.

the item will charge the GST/HST of the destination.
So if they sold the same item to someone in Alberta, it would only be 5% but 12% to BC.

That's not true, I knew quite a few online vendors that had to charge PST for orders shipped outside their province.
