I know a lot of recently graduated students are having a hard time finding a job in the accounting field. Our office has always welcomed to train and give experience for these people. If anyone is interested please feel free to pm me. We've been in business for 20 years and have been training students for about 10 years.

Thanks!

We are not hiring right now but we always come people who wish to gain experience. And from the feedback from my old students they have usually found a job in about 3 months or less. Other CA/CGA firms or any accounting field you apply for will take notice that you volunteered at a CGA firm

For those who are wondering, they are just looking for volunteers.

someone should change the title of this thread to:

CGA Firm: Volunteer Position(s) Available

The current title is misleading.

Volunteering isn't so bad, at least it attractive on a resume from a CGA firm

Serious question: What does the volunteer get to do other than photocopying and running errands?

Volunteers don't photocopy and run errands. Not at our firm anyways. I've heard horror stories from students though. At our firm we teach everything from data processing, payroll, hst to preparation of financial statements. You will get a chance to deal with CRA and with our clients as well.

Do you need experience or an accounting degree to apply or are you willing to accept volunteers with 0 experience?

If it's the latter, count me in!

they provide experience in using CASEWARE,
doing GL entries, reviews, etc for their clients. and if you volunteer long enough, they allow you to work on tax etc
