: Car Alarm woes...

Alright, so i bought a car with a Clifford XL500 alarm system installed, everything worked fine until about 2 weeks ago, now the parking lights stopped flashing, and the chirps it made when unlocking and locking stopped. It still locks fine, alarms sounds, there is just no flashing lights or noise confirmation of the lock/unlock. Anyone know what could be happening? Or where to get some help? The alarm was obviously professionally installed from what i can tell, or cant because all the wires are well hidden and looks like a pro job. thanks

My alarm is only chirping sometimes to give me a confirmation too, but my lights still flash.

My assumption is that it's just a wiring problem, and I have plans to put install Compustar into my car so I'm not too worried about it.

I'm sure Rise in Richmond and SoundsGood in Coquitlam could help you out!

Sounds like the car is in valet mode. Is the LED for the alarm on solid? Or does it blink?

Do you see a valet switch in the car?

nope, valet mode is off, the led is off, except when it armed then its blinking, i do know where the valet switch is

Way to post a useless comment "buddy"

How did I hijack it?

I was pointing out what I thought the problem was from my own experience, then directed him to Revscene sponsors who could help...

If i remember correctly, Clifford XL500 alarm is about 17 years old. It's outdated anyways so I think you should just move on from that XL500 and look into the newer ones we have today.

honestly it gets the job done, it has a nice sounding chirp, locks my doors opens them, its just two problems the lights and sound that i need to figure out, otherwise it works fine

I was installing xl500 as recently as 10 years ago old yes but it still functions exactly the same as current one way alarms. I'd check the fuses at the battery (way back then Clifford installers generally put them directly to the battery) there is two one for light flash and one for basic alarm functions.
If your in the area pop by I'll take a gander I'm sure it's a quick easy not worth writing an invoice fix.

i think you may have accidentally done that...i know for some newer cars there are options if you want it to chirp when you press the lock button or not, you have to follow certain instructions and press the unlock and lock buttons in a certain sequence...try reading the manual on how to enable the chirp/lights, if you dont have the manual check online for a pdf version or something
Good Luck

Yes i have all the manuals, and not I didnt set it for quiet, im thinking it has something to with some fuses so im going to go over all of them tmrw, my left side parking break light is out...and a new bulb didnt solve the problem, so maybe this is connected to my lights not flashing...
