It takes time to read everything on it.

The Diameter of Mecury is actually smaller than the length of the U.S. of A. wow

That's totally rad! Lots of amazing information and really easy to see as well! Thanks for posting!

The fact we are so tiny is crazy but to even think of how scientist even got this type of information... I tip my hat to them..

mathematically i understand the numbers but actually grasping the idea of how small and how large these things are.. my mind is blown

they messed up the symbol for micrometer..should be µm.

but yeah, its amazing, learned some new prefixes (stuff>Tera and stuff < femto)

truly amazing, but i do wonder..
-.- how... in mathematical equations do you prove the theory of the size of the universe...

That was too much for me to handle. I just Alt + F4

I'm no astronomer or physicist but from what I understand, they estimate the age of the universe by the light of the oldest stars they can see then they do some fancy math + physics involving the speed of light to arrive at the current size and the rate at which the universe expands.

Astronomy 110 at UBC gives you some nice introductory info.

I just learned that we cant see further than the age of the universe, which makes sense, but never thought of that before

how long before scientists discover we're just a petri dish in someone's science experiment?

everytime I see these things. I can't help but feel slightly depressed.

We are so damn insignificant in the universe it's like losing a blade of grass in your lawn

The link is cool, but it doesn't really give a real perspective of things, I find it hard to envision solely based on the slidey thing.

I think this is much better for envisioning sheer size:

More people should study science, to at least develop a naturalistic world view free from the supernatural.

anyone else notice the part that says "smallest particle a surgical mask can block out" then right beside it, "largest virus"? basically ownage to anyone thinking a surgical mask protects them from airborne viruses
