So there was this guy, and he bought a Majora's Mask cartridge from a creepy old guy, and it had wicked scary glitches in it, like Link would burst into flame while the Song of Healing played backward, and ...
Someone posting to 4chan's /x/ board (its paranormal forum) has concocted a whale of creepy urban myth that lacks only a campfire, flashlights under the face, and someone's cousin's best friend's stepbrother. It is long, but the gist of it is that the teller encounters a creepy old man, who gives him a strange, blank Nintendo 64 cartridge with "MAJORA" sharpied on it. He takes it home, plays it, and deletes a gamesave marked BEN.
Very strange, very threatening things then start happening, and while I think it's nothing more than a ghost story, it's very, very well written. It'll have you on the edge of your seat, grabbing your monitor and screaming "JUST TURN THE GODDAMN N64 OFF!!!!" And it even comes with three videos, attached below.
Someone on 4chan spent WAY TOO MUCH time and effort writing a stupid story with fake videos to go along with it, just in time for Halloween, and convincing enough that idiots might think it's real.
lol, too much to read... and I never played the game before. So many hard for me to relate..
Me too but if you're an avid reader, it's actually a good piece of writing. Even though at surface it sounds like it's overly technical with the game details but story is actually is not really about the game but the what happens because of it.
The youtube also helps too, but you only get the feel for the youtube vid after you've read & bought into the literary part.

Is it macho to be a cycnic where you grew up? Or maybe you've just confused the two in cynic = macho?
What if writing was someone's hobby? What if videogames was another hobby of interest for the writer? Ever thought of that, or are people who like to invest a good portion of their personal time for their craft = an idiot?
Yes, no one is supposed to think that whatever occurred is real. But novels or short stories are just like movies; it's called suspenion of belief. Or are we supposed to believe in ghostly pirates in order to enjoy Pirates of the Carribean, or believe in alien robots to enjoy Transformers?
Too bad you're unfailable; because that post insinuating that writing "that" was "idiotic" when writing has been an age old hobby, and that people are stupid for wanting to "buy-into-it [story]" for entertainment purposes is a pretty IDIOTIC FAILURE on your part.
Who said anything about being macho... Writing spooky ghost stories is fine. Hell, I have made an entire thread here about stories and videos. But to put that much effort into it just shows a sort of desperation, or that he really craves attention. And some idiots really do think it's real. That has nothing to do with me or you or the author. Just the idiots.
There are some great stories out there on the web. This isn't one of them. That is all.

Good thing you are failable. Because you fail.
If you think that the only measure of standard is the Skinnypuppy measure of standard, you just have a very macho outlook on your ownself. The only reason why you can portray my post as failing is because the fail button indicating fail only goes one way. That's pretty much the only way you can get away with it.
Secondly, great story or not, that's subjective to the reader - just like your Tarantino movies you pine so much about. To others, that style of filming/writing is absolute crap; doesn't necessarily mean it IS crap. But to call a guy who probably writes as a hobby "idiotic" for having "too much time writing" is probably an idiotic statement as it gets.
And I'm only riled up because I write as a hobby as well. Does it make me an idiot if I write a piece just as long that may have taken me months to complete? Does it make me an idiot if it cannot cater to all readers? Sounds like there's only one idiot here and it's not me.
haven't finished, but very interesting read indeed...
I love spooky stories that immense the reader into it and have a sense of "reality"
you know it is fake, but you'd still enjoy the experience while you are at it...
