Really? that early? So Lame.. I was thinking of leaving at 8:15 LOL.. just don't really wanna go too early lol
Lol, I was gonna edit my post and say 7!
But yeah, that bridge has like 2 entrance points with 2 lanes each feeding the merging lane. Gets backed up on cap road, marine drive, and taylor road. Throw in the occasional bumper to bumper accident and it makes a good scene for the movie "Falling down". Posted via RS Mobile
So I take it that you live closer to Lions Gate than Ironworkers?
Or work is closer to Lions Gate than Ironworkers?
If your answer applies to the first question, I would try leaving at 7:30 the latest. You never know what happens on that bridge.
If your answer applies to the latter, I would still take Ironworkers and make your way to the downtown area via McGill exit and taking Dunbar to head into the Gastown area. However, traffic on Dunbar can be a bitch.

I haven't had to line up on that bridge in years. I always make it most of the way around the circle facing the bridge before slowing down. but I don't take it often. 5-10 times a month the past 4 months. it's always 2 lanes south in the morning. on monday in the pissing ass rain I crossed around 8 with no lineups. I was from N.van to richmond in under an hour.
unless their are problems the bridge is fine.
traffic is worse on the weekends then weekday mornings. cause you get all the dumbass sunday drivers who don't know how to merge vs the people that do it every day.

I won't be commuting, i've been commuting for years lol, i want to take the car from now on. I actually live in the middle ( lions gate or iron workers ) so either one is fine.. although work would be closer if i took lions gate, i don't mind taking iron workers as long as it's not backed up.. i'm just looking for more efficient way to get there ( not commuting ) so i can get there and go home as fast as i could lol..

Where in North Van do you live, may I ask?
I'm just curious b/c I'm a fellow North Van-ner myself.
I usually would listen to traffic on the radio, or check out the highway/bridge cameras before leaving the house.

Can you bike across the lion's gate's pedastrian walk? I'd so much rather bike for 30min and get a workout rather than to be stuck in traffic for 1hr each way.
leavin north van in during traffic times is terrible
coming back to north van tho is usually always a breeze

Yes you can, the designated bike lane is on the left hand side of the walkway on both sides of the bridge.
