Bike cops r the suck

Why is it that Motorcycle cops always have the biggest attitude's.
For instance today i was driving home and got pulled over. The cop said he pulled me over for tinted front windows and i responded by saying i just got a vi a week ago and was going to take care of it and he proceeded give me a lecture on why tiniting was against the law. After this he said i was getting a tinted window ticket or i was going to take the tint off the window right there with a razor he had in his bike. I said i would just take the ticket, he then took the razor and started scraping my tint off and i was like wtf why are you doing this i said id take the ticket his response was "i need this for evidence in court".
he didnt just take a bit he scraped at list 6 pieces off each side and kept saying he didnt get a good enough piece for court and was crunching up the bad pieces and throwing them aside.
He also gave me front plate ticket made me get out of the car and bitch at me for about 20min.
Sorry just had to rant.

I find bike cops have a little more attitude then car cops, it's like they think their the shit because they know how to ride a motorcycle

well your tint is technically an illegal item. The cops do have right to take incriminating evidence without a warrant if it is in plain view.
Let say you have a big bag of weed laying on your dash, just because you tell the cop "no you can't take it" doesn't mean the cop really can't take it. Now if you have the bag of weed inside the glovebox and you give no other evidence of drug being presented in the car (ie, you or the car smells like weed, you are stone out of your mind) than the cop would need a warrant to conduct further search.
the cop cover his ass too by telling you he is doing this to gather evidence. But if he did any other damage such as scratching the window itself you might have a case.

I've noticed that as well, it's mostly the bike cops that give the tint and front plate tickets. Once I got pulled over by a bike cop and he took his key across my driver side window scratching the tint, his reply to me was, "now you have to remove the tint" Post some pics when you get a chance

So... are you bitching about getting a ticket/VI for having something illegally done to your car (two things technically), or are you complaining about him taking off pieces of the illegal tint? 'Cause, honestly, I can't tell.
holy fck, thats sucks. feel sorry for you man
jpark
11-03-2010, 09:34 PM
fuk whatta douchebag, but based on my experience as well with front tint, when the cops give you the options like you mentioned to either
option #1:write you a ticket
or
option #2: remove your tint with razor in front of him at the spot
they 99% expect you to choose option #2 to razor scrape the tint and not get a ticket written because ticket costs money. so even if some people differ and choose the option #1 to get the ticket, cops will still make up unexplainable excuses and proceed with their option #2.. they only give out these useless 'options' so they can make the person feel unambigious and they can give the person the impression that the cops gave freedom to choose the 'options' rather than pressuring, just straight up scraping the windows.. kinda sad actually...

officers taking a "sample" of the tint is nothing new. not sure if it's really for evidence since it's not a criminal code violation to have tint but motor vehicle one... perhaps more so a way to make sure you actually follow through to get your tint removed (since who would drive around with partially scraped off tint?).
plus, the reason why bike cops seem to be the ones focusing their attention on you and your cars (a plural "you" here) is that they're ALL traffic cops and it's their job to help enforce the motor vehicle act (in addition to the CCC). general patrol members, i would assume, have less of an interest in lesser motor vehicle act offences as they're there to patrol the streets for crime.
speaking of the bc motor vehicle act:
7.05 (8) No person shall drive or operate on a highway a motor vehicle which has affixed to or placed on the windshield or a window any material that reduces the light transmitted through the windshield or window unless the material is affixed to or placed on
(a) the windshield but not more than 75 mm below the top of the windshield,
(b) a side window that is behind the driver, or
(c) the rear window if the motor vehicle is equipped with outside rear view mirrors on the left and right side of the motor vehicle.
(9) If a motor vehicle contains manufactured glass, tinting contained within the glass must meet the minimum light transmittancy requirements under the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
most provinces prohibit such tint so tough luck.
moral of the post:
1) if you violate the Act, you're just asking for unwanted attention. quick solution: don't violate the act.
2) bike cops are traffic cops. if you're violating the Act, expect the unwated attention from them.
