Wondering if anybody on RS is into archery? I would like to give it a try and take some lessons and try to learn the art of it. Watching Robin Hood the other day might have something to do with it. :) I spent a good part of my child hood in Missouri where we had plenty of open fields and we would shoot our Bow & Arrows just for fun. I would be interested in getting into it. Can you guys recommend any places in the Lower Mainland? (if such a place exists)

I think there is a club in Richmond that has a place in the back of Sportstown - maybe try googling that.

Thanks. Will look it up. I know I can get results from Google but just seeing if RS members would personally recommend a place.

If you have your own equipment, get a membership at Burnaby Archers. Its only $60/year and you get a key to unlock a target so you can shoot all you want.

Anyone know where to buy equipment? And is it illegal to shoot it on your private property? Or do you need a license?

I did archery there about 5 years ago.

It's the building behind Sportstown in between No 5 and Cambie and No 5 and Westminster.

When I did it we had a group rate and it was only about $2.00 per lesson for about an hour which included all the equipment.

I'm not sure about the rates anymore considering I did this 5 years ago and also because it was a group rate.

It was fun for me in the beginning, but I lost interest in it a couple of lessons in. But I'm pretty sure that's just me.

Have fun!

You would have to check the bylaw depending on what city you live in. You do not need a license to buy a bow or crossbow.

I did archery at Semiahmoo for a few years, it was very inexpensive to come shoot and you could rent. I always had a great time, but lost interest in shooting at concentric circles repeatedly.

Unless you have acreage I don`t think you can shoot at home, what if your arrow flew over the fence and hit the neighbors kid..

unless you're shooting arrows with explosive tips that'll take out their heads, you'll just piss them off. :p
