Looking for a present possible for my dad..
He's in his 50's (Business man)
I'm looking for a decent watch & pen?? or maybe just the watch.. but I've never worn a watch before.. so I have no clue what to look for..
Anyone recommend some brands/watches that range from 200-300(before tax)
Also keep in mind this is for a 50 year old.. (Chinese business person.. if that matters lol)
Thanks..

You can get a very nice pen for $200-$300, on the other hand as far as watches go, it will buy you a perfectly decent watch to beat on every day but is not really enough to buy a really special dress watch to wear on special occasions sorta thing.
I like Montblanc pens personally.

you can find some nice Hamilton Khaki Field watches in your price range.
keep in mind watches are always negotiable on price.
30-35% is the average discount.
usually 40% discount is the max.
clearance prices are generally 50% off.
theres nothing wrong with haggling for lower prices on watches, and its a really common thing. clearance items are great too, since theres nothing wrong with the item, just last year's stock.

+1 on montblanc pen.
He's a business man.. he needs to impress clients.
A $200-300 pen will certainly help. A $200-300 watch however.. that can get you one of those seiko or D&G at costco, not going to cut it.

why not get him a cheapo space pen ($50).. then find him a card that says "you're out of this world!" : D

Mont Blanc for sure.
I've personally been weary of buying high-end pens because they're so easy to lose. I bought a $50 pen before and promptly lost it.

What do you think about money clips or credit card holders.. or possible a business card holder?
Iv noticed he tends to just jam all his money+cards into his pocket.. (no wallet)..
Also I'm a bit worried about the expensive pen because he is umm quite absent minded sometimes and travels A LOT.. (constantly driving around/traveling) so im double thinking the expensive pen because he may lose it ..
FML lol I was really gambling on the watch.. but 300 for watches arent a lot eh.. >.>
Im tempted to get the Spacepen + Money Clip?

Is he the type of person who would actually use a wallet/money clip/car holder? ..or is his habit of jamming everything into his pocket something he'll never change?
Yeah, $300 for a watch isn't much. I'd say maybe $800 is the staring point for a decent watch. There are some nice Tissot watches - check out Time & Gold at Georgia and Richards.
I would buy him a pen as well. Look at Faber-Castell they have some really nice ones for about $300. Or Lamy have some pretty nice ones too. Mont blanc will be $400 + but awesome choice. Cartier also good at $400+. If your worried he will lose the pen. I would get him a credit card holder or small wallet. Considering he is a busniess man get him a classic brand ones IE Dunhill, Cartier, Mont Blanc. Good luck with your find.
