http://www.motorward.com/2010/11/last-lamborghini-murcielago-number-4099-produced/
I'm sure most already know, but here's some new press and annoucement of the last Murcielago (4099).
Looking forward to see the next Super Lambo.
This car will definitely be always remembered as one of the greatest hyper cars of all time, becasue of its perfect recipe. It looked right, went right and lived right. The car has so much character, I mean after 10 years any car can loose its charisma, but with every new version, the mighty Murci just got better and better, and now it’s leaving proudly at the top.
So Lamborghini has a tough job coming up with a good replacement, to continue the success of the Murcielago.
The „end of production“ of the Murcielago was celebrated in the factory on November 5, 2010, with a special exhibition of the most iconic V12 cars of Lamborghini’s history, followed by a parade in Sant’Agata Bolognese. Supersportcars like the 350 GT, the Miura, the Countach and the Diablo escorted a Murcielago SV of the Lamborghini Museum during a symbolic “last ride” out of the gate of the Lamborghini factory.
For almost a decade, the Murcielago was the icon of the Lamborghini brand, and it was enormously successful in the process,” says Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “The Murcielago embodies the pure, unadulterated values of our brand. It is truly extreme, uncompromising and unmistakably Italian. This already makes it one of the legends of the sports car world. But the Lamborghini story continues. In 2011, we will take a huge step into the future with the successor to the Murcielago – with the most innovative technology and, once again, truly stunning design.”
The Lamborghini Murcielago is a super sports car of menacing character and brutal power. And at its presentation in 2001, it opened a new chapter for the Lamborghini brand – with state-of-the-art technology and outstanding product quality, but most especially, with a new, timelessly modern design philosophy. To this day, the purist form of the Murcielago still exudes enormous sensuality. Broad and low, with a cockpit set well forward and a long, taut back – the interplay of its calm underlying form and razor sharp edges is unique, as are its vertically opening “scissor” doors.
4,099 units of the Lamborghini Murcielago were built between 2001 and 2010 in Sant’Agata Bolognese – an impressive number, and not only in comparison to its predecessors the Miura, Countach and Diablo. Bearing the special production number, the final one to be produced is, of course, an LP 670-4 Superveloce, sporting a large rear wing and “Arancio Atlas” paintwork. The final car has been delivered to a customer in Switzerland. Even though many sports car fans around the world are sure to mourn the passing of the Murcielago, Lamborghini is ready to start the next all-new chapter in the story of the super sports car in 2011 with its successor – welcoming the arrival of a new automotive legend…

Boo fucking hooo. It's about time they got rid of that shitty old design/frame.
The G feels so much more modern where as the murci is just a rolling squeak factory with poorly laid out/designed interior. Get with the times and build a more DD friendly supercar. Leave the kit car feeling for people like hennesey.

Murc's presence was just overwhelming, gallardos drive by like honda accords nowadays in vancouver, without a flashy colour could easily be ignored. Murc was truly a beautiful car

i'm surprised they didn't throw this in their gallery/display and that it came out before the production model of the successor was introduced.

I hope they go back to their roots and build something outrageous. Lamborghini's past designs made a huge splash in the industry. The Miura was the first production sports car with a mid engine V12, the Countach was a radical design that was plastered on the bedroom walls of every 12 year old boy. The Diablo took the fastest production car title from the Ferrari F40. The Murcielago was nice but wasn't "Lamborghini" nice. The bull was tamed by VW.. but I guess that's what sells cars. I see Pagani as where Lamborghini should be today. Crazy design design with crazy performance. I guess Horacio Pagani took the Lamborghini mentality with him when he left and started his own car company.

imo the murc is an amazing looking car and its presence is no doubt unmistakable, but i have to say this car is not meant for track driving or any type of sporty driving it is a pure bull of a car. Would i buy one no would i have bought one 10 years ago...maybe.
But the lp670 witch i have not driven does look like the worked out alot of the problems the 640 had and that wing looks fucking sick.

Parked side by side the proportions in the design would be a dead giveaway, the murcielago would look more exclusive to anyone thanks to the tiny windows, and not to mention lambo doors. Besides are YOU going to purposely drive your lambo into a kitchen? no. These cars were meant for enthusiasts, not pretentious assholes that worry about what random people on the street think of their car

Hence the impracticality and the shit design of the Murci and if there *EVER* was a better definition of "enthusiasts" you'd quickly realize that only place the murci does SLIGHTLY better than the last gallardo model is in top speed.
I consider people that like to DRIVE their cars enthusiasts so if you want something thats not any faster, less practical to drive. Horribly designed then look no further than your Murci. I mean do you really think the guys that are getting TT kits on their G's can't afford murci's? Theres a reason why they stuck with the G, not to mention that even the TT murci's still havn't surpassed the G should tell you something.
Obviously your an enthusiast of body kits since all you care about is the looks and not performance.

LOL you were commenting on how no one walking by on the street would prefer the murc over the gallardo, how is that in any way related to performance...?

The M was build by Lambo themselves, not VAG. Yes, VAG owned them at the time but they only gave minimal input on how the car should be designed, unlike the G.

Yeah I think the latest LP670-SV was probably the sickest out of them all. Everything is perfect about the car.

The Murc replacement was revealed to a select few people about 1month ago in Italy. I think it was mainly dealership owners and investors not to sure when the public will see it though.

No, VW rejected the first two designs by Zagato and had Audi design the Murcielago. The Murcielago designed by Luc Donckerwolcke. He was a designer at Audi at the time was placed in charge of Lamborghini's design department in 98 after the acquisition. He face lifted the Diablo and designed both the Murcielago and Gallardo.

It was also revelaed to some select owners in Singapour around a week ago. It will be revealed to the public in Geneva. The car will be around 503 lbs lighter than the LP640, 0-100 is 2.9 and 50 ms gearshifts with a single clutch gearbox. Top speed is around 350 km/h with 700 bhp.
As for styling apparently the Reventon and the Estoque slept together and the interior is finally modern looking. Overall very promising and in fact there are over 50 deposits on the car already.

it's a photoshop, but could very well look like the new replacement. Aventador (LP700-4).
700hp with 7-speed ISR transmission has already been confirmed.
