This shows that the Vietnamese and Cantonese people comes from the same stock of people. Quite a lot of Vietnamese people look like Cantonese peoples anyways. It's just the Cantonese people are more Sinocized.

filipino people (at least the malay stock) and malays (malaysians and indonesians) actually come from the same stock of people. because of colonization and religion the philippines and malaysia/indonesia are so freaking culturally different. it seems now like a huge rift that's hard to reconcile.

this is why some filipinos think they are pacific islanders, not asians.. LOL!

the way we all look (skin tone, size/build, hair and even some facial characteristics) is partially due to our environment or geological location
i wonder what we (especially north and south americans, being the last continents in the world with human habitation) will all look like a few thousand yrs from now

why? do you think there was nobody there? or that it isn't known what was going on there? rofl (we know now of the peoples in the americas during 600bc the same era as the map above and how they lived)

Notice how the top left corner of each map clearly states East Hemisphere. Miraculous how a title works, isn't it?

i think NA and SA aren't there cuz of insufficient information.... first nations hav no recorded history, plus most of them died off as soon as Europeans got here

u can draw it on there but nobody would kno what to write on it

and holy shit, ZF these maps pre-date even YOUR time!

i can see that there's still a lack of information about a lot of the civilizations but we do know about the Olmecs; the Zapotec; the Maya; the Caral Supe (all of whom have archaelogical sites being researched and structures still standing etc and existed in the same time period as those maps in op)

i don't want to blow this topic up anymore though my original comment was just taking a dig at Asian_xl ;)

wow, awesome thread!
1000 AD things are quite recognizable. The borders were drawn, and although they're different than they are today, political powers were already established.

very cool, thanks for posting.

the colapse of the roman empire in the 400s is real interesting. i wish i paid more attention to it in elementary school

No kidding.
Especially when you consider it's the same thing that's happening to the North American empire. Changing of the guard happens a hell of a lot more often than our short lives can see.

Europe is interesting, but China in the last 2000 years has seen a shit ton of change.

its real interesting looking at the border changes over time and how certain empires have grown and fallen. and you are totally right. the American/Western 'Empire' (not technically an empire, but for lack of a better word...) has definitely reached its peak, and is most likely going to see a real quick drop off like the Romans. Id like to see our time from the future and see how its writen in the history books.
