That might be true, but BMW does not slack on their designs due to that. That would be the most retarded thing for any company to do, and is only the formula for failure in the future.

Edit:

BMW has always been down to earth simple design vehicle. Simple design lasts longer, and people get used to it, then familiarity is liked. What they sell is a driving experience and they spend more effort on that, they do very well at that too.

Recently, Infinity, Lexus and others have made their interior so luxurious that it forces BMW to try an incorporate more changes while trying to keep it simple. That is a hard task and I think they did great with this car in particular.

+1 judging from the forthcoming BMW models I'd say they have the leading edge. Audi interior is getting a little bland and so are their exteriors. BMW is definitely stepping the game up. As for mercedes, interior has gone since the current C class came out IMO, very rough and materials weren't as soft touch as they were before
