Lets get the facts straight first. Before the video started the boy went through a metal detector and didn't set it off but was selected for a pat down. The boy was shy so the TSA couldn't complete the full pat on the young boy. The father tried several times to just hold the boys arms out for the TSA agent but i guess it didn't end up being enough for the guy. I was about 30 ft away so i couldn't hear their conversation if there was any. The enraged father pulled his son shirt off and gave it to the TSA agent to search, thats when this video begins.
******* THIS VIDEO OCCURRED AT SALT LAKE CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ON NOVEMBER 19TH AT AROUND THE TIME OF 12:00 PM **********
***Insertion of what happened after the video (full story)****
After I finished videotaping the incident I went through the check point myself. I collected my things and went over to talk to the father and son. Before I could get to them a man in a black suit who had been talking with the other TSA officials approached me. He asked to speak to me and I obliged, wondering what was to come. He then proceeded to interrogate me about why I was videotaping the "procedures of the TSA". I told him that I had never seen such practices before on a young child and decided to record it. The man being frustrated at this point demanded to know my plans with the video, of which I didn't respond. Repeatedly he asked me to delete the video, hoping his mere presence could intimidate me to obey, but I refused. By this point it became obvious that he felt TSA had done something wrong and that I caught it on tape. After the interview, I left for my gate. I called my brother who told me I should put the tape on YouTube because this had been a recent hot topic in the news.
My gate was a long way off, but about 15 minutes after arriving 2 TSA agents came and sat 15 feet or so away from me. I stood up and moved so that they were in front of me and then took a picture. A 3rd and then a 4th agent came and sat down with the others. They would occasionally glance at me and talk on their walkie-talkies. I don't know why they were there or if it was a huge coincidence but they stayed for 30-45 minutes and left just before I boarded the plan. Interesting to say the least, intimidating? Maybe a little...

as for children getting xrayd even such a low dose of radiation causes harm to children (they're higher risk due to more cells dividing)
and 1in20 people is especially sensitive to xray exposure giving them higher risks in getting cancer etc etc
The guy who wrote the guidelines for airport xray safety/use said he wouldn't have signed off on airport xrays if he knew it was the TSA's plan to scan 2out of 3 passengers by the end of 2011
etc etc lots of debate
edit: forgot, scientists at UC, Columbia etc etc & the guy in charge of writing the guidelines says that the head and neck should be avoided from being scanned (due to the risk of Basel Cell Carcinoma) but the TSA says adjusting the height of the scanner for each person isn't conceivable due to time constraints (i guess a platform/stool is out of the question)
few other Radiology scientists etc say theres too much of a risk to chromosome mutations etc and sperm/breast tissue damage etc (but not all agree)
I don't really have nice things to say about airport security most of the time. My 3 month old baby girl was patted down by security before too. My wife was not happy about that.
The father was the one to take off the kids shirt and he was OK with it.
Glen Beck is an idiot and a liar. If you don't want to get searched don't fly or get your own plane.

What did Glen Beck lie about?
Did you read the link in the original post? The little boy was Autistic, he didn't set off the metal detector, and the only reason that the TSA gave for searching him was he was wearing a baggy shirt. The father took off the search cause the TSA officers won't happy with how the boy wasn't compiling to their commands.
Enough with this non story that's been on the news 24/7. I travel back and fourth from the US quite a bit and I should be the easiest person to profile when I'm standing in line for screening because I'm East Indian but I have never had extra screening done, hell most of the TSA agents i've encountered are very polite and doing their jobs well.
Sure there might be a small percentage of people who have to get the secondary screening done and it's unjust but most of the the idiots that usually get pulled for the secondary screening are the ones that leave their belts on, their biker boots with shitload of buckles going all over the place or other metal objects which they forget to remove after been told numerous times by TSA agents and not reading signs posted everywhere before heading into the x-ray area. Like seriously, how many times does a TSA agent have to tell you to REMOVE everything and anything that is metal? Don't bitch and complain when you get pulled over for a secondary screening because you're too stupid to read and listen.
Ignatieff doesn’t mind his junk touched

The Liberal Leader doesn’t mind airport officials patting him down.
“I have people touching my private parts all day long,” Michael Ignatieff said Wednesday in the foyer of the House of Commons.
He was responding to questions from reporters about the government’s decision to place privacy dividers or stalls in the security lanes at Canada’s major airports in hopes of avoiding a backlash over the invasive searches of passengers.

“That’s what we have to do to keep us safe,” Mr. Ignatieff said. “... I have long ceased worrying about these issues. We have to keep this country safe and the people I feel strongly in support of are the hard-working security scanners. It’s not a great job. It’s tough. You’re wearing rubber gloves all day long.”
Noting he spends his life in airports, the Liberal Leader said he has run the full gamut of security checks – including the body scanner.[/QUOTE]

Glen Beck is a lair and a cry baby in general. Notice all the people complaining are white. If the guy complaining was dark skinned and a Muslim people would call him a terrorist.
Ever heard of DWB? It stands for driving while black. Black people get pulled over more often then than white people by police for no reason. But no one like Glen Beck gives a shit.
I go threw secondary screening almost every time and it's not a big deal.

airport security happens because the country cares about a few hundred people.
ahh no. they airline is probably concerned with their $300 million dollar boeing 747, and could be liable for all the damages from a potential terrorist strike (by not taking enough effort to prevent terrorists from taking over). if liable, and 1 life is worth $2m to the victims family, then the 400 passenger and crew plane is worth $800m in paying out the victims families alone. that would bring the total upwards of..
one BILLION dollars...!
and so, the costs of airport security are split between a bunch of different airlines, and national defense chips in too, and theres international regulations to ensure a consistent level of security quality throughout the world.

Thanks. It was a real questions I didn't know who Glen Beck was. I just don't like how they got to pat down kids...I couldn't get my Son's Ultra Sound picture because he was laying a certain way showing his junk. But some random guy gets to see my kids private parts through a x-ray machine that may or may not hurt them. But that is better then having some middle man touch him I guess. Where do we draw the common sense line in society? Are they going to start to install X-ray machines at all public transit station next? should everyone that take public transit get pat down or x-rayed? I'm sure more people use public transit more then people fly each day.
Going through secondary screening by yourself is one thing. Getting your jock grabbed then worrying that you kids are about to get violated are another thing. I would rather get rape twice for my kids then watch them get raped even once. It's just my parental instinct.
