The snow is light now, but by the time students are off, it'll be heavy snowfall making the commute home even more difficult.

I'd say that not looking ahead to the rest of the day and keeping schools open is a bad decision.

Victoria - 20 bus is not going past 54th avenue.

quick question. why is it that all the private schools seem to close early, every time it snows?

They don't have to answer to tax payers who go 'how dare they close, what am I going to do with my kids now?'

So they can do what they like.

I assume because Private schools have more individuals who drive their kids in since many do not live the vacinity.

So they can do what they like.

Private schools actually do get some tax money.

I think he may have been referring to those who attend private schools are normally a little better off than those who attend public schools in terms of social economic status.

This means they can afford a babysitter than having their parents stay home.

Careful. The next step is inquiring about an account, and then we all know how that will end up

Regardless of if they get tax $ or not. The general public isn't going to bitch and moan and give the teachers grief if the private school is closed it effects/inconvienances fewer people. On the other hand public schools get grief if they close on a whim which has more direct consequences.

And like wise public school children tend to be more likely to have two full time working parents that are reliant on their income to the extend that extra daycare/baby sitting or one parent taking the day off is a bigger burden.

Interesting - neither Vancouver College nor Little Flower Academy are closed...

University of British Columbia - Open :bullshit:

Over the past 7 years, UBC has been closed due to snow ONCE. And it wasn't the snow that caused the closure, it was no power (power station was busted)!

That rather sucks. I heard a bus jackknifed on the road on the way up. Now the buses have stopped entirely now? I remember being stranded at SFU due to ice and/or fog in the past. It sucks.
