I dunno... more often than not, I find these kinds of awards to be more of a popularity contest.

I was thinking the same. I did not exactly delve any further into the details of how a restaurant is nominated or how they win, but it appears that the selection is random and based on a number of votes. There is no real criteria to meet of any sort.
Kind of like The Georgia Straight's Best of Vancouver Awards. :p
This sounds like a shameless promotion on behalf of HSBC promoting their banking clients.

This.
I don't think I've had better Roast Pork in the lower mainland.
If you know better, please share the wealth.
Also, has anybody ever ordered a suckling pig from them?
I think it's time my group of friends did it.
Deer Garden is not THAT great imo

No clue maybe they felt like they didn't need him anymore since 75% of the people that go there are white and drink more than they eat. Lets just say if you go there based on the food ratings your in for a shock.

*hahaha* Looks like their claim to fame got the best of them.
I never quite understood the idea nor premise behind a modern Chinese restaurant. Putting a modern/western twist on traditional Chinese/family recipes is a culinary crime in my opinion but hey, whatever appeals to the masses to make money, right? :lol
I never cared much for Bao Bei nor do I personally like it being there in Chinatown but hey, gentrification is the hottest trend. :)

I think HK BBQ master is pretty popular but my family hasn't got anything from them before
Foot at dinesty was alright but IIRC service was shit
Have yet to try hakkasan I hear it's hella balling, Haha I'm hakka myself and I can't imagine the food being all that special
I agree that Kirin on alberni has the best environment though, It's good for business lunch IMO, not typical noisy dim sum place
Surprised OP hasn't heard of Jade, it's location really stands out IMO hard to miss the building.
Anyone been to the chinese restaurant on fraser and 47th? I think it's pretty good, it's 2 stores down from shoppers
