Ive been eating a lot of fibre and watching my diet but it's still difficult in getting those wash broad abs. I have noticed improvements such losing my donut but revealing the lower ab is impossible =(
Any tips from those who use to have a donut and now washes clothes with their abs?

Gotta say hello to your new diet of minimal caloric intake!

On top of what the guy above me said about the Ab Ripper X, you may want to research on what the P90x diet plan is. That....plus what everyone else has already said.

I think the 3 things that contribute to getting good abs is cardio, diet, and ab exercises.

Cardio is the first key IF u got the donut gut. Yes, it will help you shed the excess poudage....But if you're already at an ideal weight, cardio will get you absolutely nowhere to get you ideal abs.

Not saying to cut out the cardio....but if you're intending to get ideal abs, you better make sure you're able to outrun anyone on the sportsfield. I wouldn't find it amusing if someone of an under-par fit level was able to outrun me at anything if i had kick-ass abs.

Oh, another thing (don't hold me to this information) that will help bring out the ab muscles is if you work the muscles from the inside out....as in concentrating more in the core excercises.

I guess there is still this misperception of ab excercises working out the core, although they are in the same area of the body are still different muscles. So yeah...spend more time strengthening your core before finishing of ur abs. Plus, nothing wrong with stregthening your core either....these excercises are very underrated and is very sports-functional.

Core:
-planks (side planks)
-braced squats
-mountain climber
-ab-roller (or with the balance ball)
-oblique twists
-superman/banana balance pose

Abs:
-crunches
-air bicycle
-sit ups
etc.

Im at a ideal weight. Im 5"6 and 150 pounds (mostly muscle now)
I lost my donut but i still have a layer of skin on my lower stomach that covers my lower ab. My buddy told me that i should just work out my abs and they will reveal themselves as I have a "flat stomach". I acknowledge that dieting is the most important aspect in getting abs but dunno how clean i have to eat -_-"
I eat a lot of wheat and brown rice. I did the ab ripper x but nothing really significant happened.
I know many of u RS users use to have a donut and now have abs so i'm looking for some tips =D

from my experience.. cardio did the less fat burning for me
i have researched online and watched alot of videos and the pros always say most common mistake for ppl wanting abs are doing cardio and small ab exercises.
u gotta do more squats, deadlifts, bench press, chin up

all of that with crunches as well. Way back in the day when I wasn't round I used to do over 1000 crunches through out the day and I had a killer 6 pack. Now I just have a keg and I don't even drink beer :(

I use to do a lot of bench press 185lb which is ideal for my weight. Ive been doing some dead lifts and squats. Maybe I just gotta get at it harder.
As for my diet, I try to stay clean. I try not to eat a lot of white rice anymore, too much carbs. Thanks for the tips btw

so avoid things like pasta and potatoes, I'm sure theres more to it too

Diet is probably the most important one to gain abs, in order to get those abs you basically need low body fat. Get the diet down, cut your carbs down, do regular cardio, and don't forget to lift heavy.

Reduce body fat is the only way to get abs. Abs as a muscle really don't actually grow very much compared to other muscles. You can 1000 sit ups a day and never have visual abs. Sure they will be strong but you have to get the skin tight around them to show them. Limit your carbs and sugars and burn away excess calories.

Berz out.

^ this. Abs are like any other muscle in the body. Given a diet which is conducive to muscle growth, if your abdominal muscles are pushed to their limits, they will grow. It's more difficult to do compared to other muscle groups, but that's what will happen.

Also, work the obliques at the same time to make things look more balanced.

As has been said the muscle is always there, it's the body fat on top of it that hides it. You could have a very strong core and rock solid abs but if you don't have a low percentage of body fat than you'll never see them. I think you need to be 10% or lower to have them show but everyone's different.

Diet's huge, cut water weight, etc. A key element most people forget is that you gotta work them hard and heavy if you actually want to build size and definition. Repetitive exercises like crunches and leg lifts aren't really gonna help you. Think about how much your abs do in day to day movements in supporting your entire upper body, cardio is nothing for them. For other muscle groups you don't do repetition exercises to build size, you lift heavy and tear the muscle as much as you can (without hurting yourself) to get size - same goes for abs. They're tough though, almost a "born with it or without it" muscle like calves.

Just be prepared to be very very sore at first if you start training your abs hard.

I can see that I have a 6 pack under the slight amount of fat I have right now, but I can feel that I can have an 8 pack. The bottom 2 don't have enough mass to be seen. When I use the machines to work my abs, I can only get the top 6 to be worked. And decline weighted sit ups work below those 2.
Basically, the exercises I do work either too high up, or too low, is there a way to work the middle ones?
This is not a troll post. Just didn't want another abs thread so I posted in here.

P90X ab-ripper 3x per week and jogging to work and back (20 mins) 5x per week has been working for me. I find it a good balance between increasing muscle and decreasing body fat.
