My buddies are coming down from Calgary in January. We're all under 21 and can't rent a car (specifically I need a van..) is there anyway for me to get one other then buying one? I'm willing to pay money to "rent". I need it for 4 days or so only...

Do you have a credit card? Are you willing to take full legal responsibility if anything happens to the van?

Sounds like you have a van. Pm me. And yes i do have credit card.. but i dont see how this will help. And since I'm "renting" a van, even if i was renting i believe I'm taking full legal responsibility either way so I am willing haha.

HAha, i think our "adventures" will consist of eating in Richmond, site seeing around Vancouver, and.. maybe a bar / club at most? LOL we're very boring and chill ppl :P
Killing hookers :P, knocking out peoples mail boxes with a baseball bat, pissing in public on the roof of some building, and loitering outside 7 11 like a wana be gangsta, that's all.. stuff i wish i did hahah!

There's one thing about promising to take responsibility, and another thing to actually BE legally responsible. For example, if after clubbing, some one drove home after a drink, and gets car impounded, the owner is on the hook, regardless of all the promises beforehand.

Vans are pretty cheap. Why not pool some money, buy one, and then sell it afterward

You can rent as long as you have credit card.

Then can you give an example of a car rental company that will rent to someone less than 21?

Why are you asking strangers to help and not your mom and dad?

I rented a couple cars before turning 21 and I think all I needed to do was have my mom sign something and pay a small risk premium. Do you still your N?

No sane person would rent their own van to a bunch of kids for a few days, so I suggest you look at the other suggestions here:
Ask family
Ask friends
Buy a cheap one on CL, then sell if after (might even be cheaper in the long run)

I think you have to be older than 21, and pay an underage fee for being under 25. Or that's what the major companies do anyways. You might find a Richmond rental place that are a little sketchy that don't follow these rules...

Get a brother/sister family member to rent it for you
Don't do this, really bad idea unless the person will be with you ALL THE TIME. If you crash, and they are not there, there is a bucketload of legal problems going to crash down on you.

I've rented cars when I was 18, 19 etc.

Mind you, these were times when I needed a rental while my car was getting fixed, but they were from regular rental agency. The one I used was Avis.

Lol for 4 days you could probably get away with buying a shitbox old caravan and sell it for the same/more than you bought it for, If it was one day I guess different story, people might be looking for winter beaters this time of year anyways

Much like what roastpuff says, way to much legal problems...

I know there's probably a 1% chance someone would actually rent to me.. so i'm trying my luck, but thanks :)

u can only do that if your 21+ ... and i did ask my mom and dad. Both of them were against me borrowing a van from family friends.. and they refuse to help in anyway since they are somewhat against my friends coming down from Calgary. Cause originally it was only 3 friends which i can do for rides since i have a car, now it turns out to be 6.. ==''. And yes I have my full class 5 since 08.

Hilarious :P LG hunting, haha.

Very very true, if I saw a post with someone asking for a van i would laught at them and tell them GL and troll. But I'm jsut trying my luck here, maybe someone is crazy enough :P
Family refuse to do anything
most of my friends dont have cars, or they are using family's car or their cars are just 2 seaters. Again I dont want to borrow any friends cars, cause 1 IF anything does happen.. you and your friend might argue and what not.. so I rather not hurt the friendship in borrowing the car.

CL might be the best option right now.. but reselling would be a BITCH. And i honestly have far to much stuff on my plate to stick around and try to sell a shitty van :P

How much is your van ><'''

How much you got?? I got 2 vans... depending how much you are willing to pay :) It's my winter beater anyways..

genesis195

I'm willing to pay the same as what I would have to pay in renting a van from a actual renting company.. so 200 ish? loll and if u want premium on that make it 400 or so?

Ahh i see what vans are they? and I'm not willing to fork out an arm and a leg ><'' but tell me what vans they are and I'll give u a price :P

Edit: for those who failed me on this please read previous posts carefully... Tiger asked how much I was willing to pay for RENTING not for buying. where as Benz was asking for an actual purchase, hence I needed to ask the price. Purchasing a van is my LAST option.

You desperately posted you needed a van for a couple days so you and your friends can cruise around Vancouver. Someone offered you a lead. Now you're asking what kind, and bargaining on the price when you already posted you'd give $200-$400 for it?...this isn't bargain basement.

If your parents, brothers, sisters, cousins, friends and co-workers legitimately can not help you, there is probably a reason why.

Thread re-opened.

Endless thank you so much. You are very understanding and a great mod.

Why did this thread get re-opened?
Never seen that happen before in all of my Revscene-ing.

I believe Endless misunderstood my posts (post order..) and closed the thread based on false assumptions, not his fault i should have used quotes haha. He thought I was bargaining to purchase a van where I had "stated to purchase" one for $400 ish, this price was meant for renting a van and to answer Tiger's question of "how much you wiling to pay". If I was too buy, I'll have to think about it, hence me asking for van model and price.

Should've stayed closed.

Haha. maybe.. but it never hurts to ask. However, now I think it should have stayed closed. Cause the problem's been resolved. One of them managed to convince his relatives in Van to lend him their van...

So thank you all for the helped.

I apologize Endless ><'' for getting you to reopen this just to have you "close" it again...
