Red Dead Redemption has the best shot right now.
Despite the flaws I still think Gran Turismo 5 is a good candidate and I hope Heavy Rain gets an honourable mention.

didnt really like bad company. played that for a few weeks. then never went back to it.

starcraft 2 i agree is uber disappoint. bought it to play with friends, played like 5 games with friends, and then never bothered to play ever again lol.

Sc1 in its early years... i.e. before Koreans started turning the game into an APM measurement.

You know SC2 is gettin way to competitive when you talk to your friends about building placement in ur base on diff maps... xD

so Simcity has a big part of it hahhaa... but ya i agree.. its gettin to a point where everyone is just too focused are getting good at the game rather then playing it passively..

i dunno GT5 for now... but i agree the biggest flop was FF13

For this year:

COD MW2 <-- first COD title I played and I thought it was amazing. epic KDR.
SC2 < -- There was huge hype. Played for maybe a couple months. Havnt touched it since. I find that game is only fun if you play with friends. Game is way too competitive compared to original sc.

There isn't anything wrong with it, but it doesn't hold the same magic as old blizzard games once did. Other than the campaign, I don't in anyway feel compelled to play again and again. Maybe I'm in a different place in my life, but I do feel that Starcraft 2 is somewhat bland.

Game of the year? Dragon Age. It wasn't everything I hoped it would be but it was still better than most of the other "RPGS" that came out in the last year.

PC Only Game of the Year Honorable Mention - Civ 5. I'm sure it's not as crazy active as most of you guys like but it soothes you into a false sense of security... and then steals hours and hours of your time.

Biggest Surprise? I've played a LOT of really good independent/casual style games that have been really engaging and far more addictive than their simple interfaces would let on. I have to give World of Goo a big thumbs up here.

Disappointments? Final Fantasy 13 (Though really every FF after 7 has fallen into this category for me so I don't know why I keep going back to the game line like a battered wife)

Best Old Game Discovered: Lost Odessy - Which I recommend to anyone who likes old school RPGs, it really is a clever and interesting game.

Super street fighter 4 has been the best game for me this year. starcraft 2 was ok. lost a lot of the elements that made the original great.

GT5 should have never come out and polyphony should have skipped right to gt6

I don't understand how SC2 is disappointing because it got too competitive.

Only reason it is now is because Ladder matches are the ones that they make you play. I remember it being as competitive before because ladder matches back then wasn't really a big deal. Don't care about your rank? Then just play custom matches or with friends.

If I had to choose the GOTY I'd say Red Dead or Civ5. Not really sure though, got too many games over the past month to be able to play them along side with exams. Now that its over, time to make a dent on my backlog.

The game sold over 5 million copies, plenty of people have played it. I have it and for me it just isn't a contender this year.

Regardless whether MW2 sold a decent amount this year, it doesn't qualify for any 2010 GOTY nominations.
