They already have tours I've read about, it's like 400 USD and you just have to time it right because they do 1 per month

theres a whole lot of uncertainty surrounding the actual safeness of visiting the immediate vicinity of the chernobyl plant. Most tours that have existed up until now never went into the actual plant. They were relegated to outdoor perimetre tours along with viewing the town. Some experts say the "sarcophagus" that was built to envelope the huge hole created above the reactor has been experiencing an expansive rate of decay and will need to be replaced in the next few years.
Whats amazing is how the whole area has been almosr fully reclaimed by nature.

Meh should be fine as long as you carry a Geiger counter with you at all times. Would be sorta interesting. I bet the economy of the local area could get a boost from this. Can't imagine the economy to be in a good state at the moment...

Before going on the trip, fully test your Geiger Counter to make sure it ISN'T beeping out of control in a non-radiation zone first.

It can't be THAT bad...
The Chernobyl power plant was active until December 2000. Which means people worked there for years after the disaster.

"Unit 3 was the last reactor to be operated at the Chernobyl plant. To meet the year 2000 deadline, the reactor was shut down on 15 December 2000 during the official ceremony of the power plant shut-down with Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma present in the control room during the event. At about 1:17 PM local time, the reactor team pressed AZ5, Rapid Emergency Defence; within seconds the power readout meter was reading zero. The shutdown went as planned."
...
"Even after the last reactor shutdown, people continue to work at the Chernobyl plant until reactor units 1, 2, and 3 are totally decommissioned, which is expected to take years."
How hard is that to google?

For plutonium 24100 years lol..
If my math is right, 0.047% of the radiation should have degraded since the reaction.

American reactor designs weren't a whole lot better back in the day...
They just didn't have operators who would exploit their design flaws as easily.
The Chernobyl accident would never have occurred if the plant operators hadn't run tests & experiments below the safe operational limits.

It's crazy how accurate the CoD maps really are. I've seen footage on TV and I almost feel like I've been there. I know it sounds crazy but as the camera was going around the area I knew what was coming up. Seeing it in real life on Camera was a pretty interesting feeling after having gamed up on the level several times and knowing it the way I know it.

yeah, they modelled their maps with a lot of reference pics.
Kind of makes it creepy a bit playing that level again actually.

I would go there for sure if they could prove that the radiation would cause no long or short term effects on me. :P
