I've hit a bunch of sites lately that asked for all the characters displayed, and was also case sensitive. Took me about 5 tries because sometimes the font is retarded, and you can't tell with certain letters :rolleyes:

thats becasue someone in india came out with a software that enters captchas for you, so all the scalpers are using this software to get to event tickets. it was in the news recently

Well, of course the purpose of captchas is to prevent robots from automatically filling out forms... and when they were first used, they were very simple ones, just text presented as a picture. But as time went on, people programmed the robots to be able to read the captchas, so then they had to make captchas a little more difficult to read... and the cycle continues to the point now where in order to continue to stop the robots, they have to make the captchas so complex and illegible that even humans have trouble reading them.
